“Jane added that when we close our eyes we’re aware of a certain ‘area of blackness,’ one we’re used to. [...]

(These notes give me a chance to hint at another in the series of “house connections” that Jane and I have become so much aware of this month — for there is a close professional relationship between the owner of the Foster Avenue house and the real estate agency through which we’re buying the house on the hill. [...] There are more intertwinings here [including some art elements] than it’s necessary to describe; but studying just this one complex house connection, then seeing how it combines with some of the others we’ve become conscious of; leaves Jane and me more than a little bemused by this interlocking reality we’re creating.²

So, I said to Jane, not only are we stirring things up by moving out of the apartment house, but we’re entering a situation where we will be staying put while others move away. [...]

[...] While I discussed the Florence, Italy, data with Jane after the session, Seth returned very briefly re Rembrandt:That is why he went to Florence—to see the sculpture there. Perhaps after my return to Denmark from Italy I did some experimenting re painting sculptures, and then passed this information on to Rembrandt?

[...] Quality control was not what it is today re paints, varnishes, etc.)

(I know little about efforts to paint sculpts, but the above sounds very possible, re the mold.)

[...] I’m not getting this clear but the feeling was like you’re supposed to demonstrate truth through your life and my symptoms sort of were the opposite, or indicated the opposite; not only didn’t I heal others but not even myself. [...]

[...] “The whole body is trying to move,” I said, “as though you’re trying to move it in a dream.” [...]

(“You’re moving your body,” I laughed. [...]

(Now I told her that re Seth’s session for me yesterday, I’d tried using his suggestions when I went to bed, and that they worked well, in that I stopped worrying about Jane. [...]

“— and we’re speaking of personality now,” Jane said, coughing again. [...]

[...] “I don’t know how you’re going to put this together with the Seth stuff. [...]

[...] In accidental ways that would be quite humorous if they weren’t so personal, we’ve also learned what negative ideas others can have about us: A person will inadvertently reveal to us, during a conversation, or in a letter or over the telephone, the unflattering opinions his or her mate, or parents, or friends, really have of Jane and me and the work we’re engaged in with the Seth material.

[...] Then of course we’re greeted with polite smiles; the conversation may touch upon the weather, but hardly ever upon matters psychic. [...]

(She wasn’t too clear as to what she was panicky about, but as we talked I began to understand that she was re-experiencing the same round of fears that she had many times in the past, and that many of these private sessions have been devoted to over the years: her mother, her need for love, her fears of abandonment, the conflicts involving success and the psychic work, our relationship, and so forth, if anything’s left. [...]

[...] He is going to send her some suggestions for possible ways to go re recording material.

[...] Those early feelings are still true to me, and now they’re wound up with my more recent feelings that it seems to be up to me to struggle to try to save Jane from herself. [...]

[...] “It’s just that the symptoms show that you’re a human being like everyone else,” I speculated. “They show that you’re not ensconced on high, telling everyone else what to do through Seth, telling them how to handle all of their problems while you live a life of wealth, talent, and happiness, free of all worldly cares and responsibilities,” I added. [...] “I think it’s something we’re blind to, that’s right in front of us all the time, but we can’t see it,” I said. [...]

(“So you’re in trouble,” I said, “because that situation makes the Seth material legitimate. [...]

[...] Perhaps we’re too stubborn about agreeing wholeheartedly that such possibilities exist, or perhaps we’re just too enamored of our “present” physical lives, even with all of our challenges, to want to fully concur with Seth.

[...] I’ve written before that as physical creatures we’re always going to find the contradictory notion of “simultaneous time” hard to comprehend, intellectually at least.

[...] All well and good to announce that one was a serf some 900 years ago—but one is much more likely to be either tuning into minute signals surrounding the actual physical and mental reality of the serf (poor fellow), or to be picking up on elements of that individual’s personality as they’re associated with the serf’s whole self or entity.
