Fears when present find any justification. [...]

In your present system of beliefs, and with the dubious light in which the unconscious is considered, a fear of the emotions is often generated. [...]

(This afternoon I’d suggested that she might like a word from Seth on her mother’s present situation—meaning that if her mother now had more insight as to her treatment of her daughter, this knowledge might help Jane feel better about her own reactions to her mother. [...]

(As I wrote up my third vision, incidentally, I called myself “captain,” automatically using present-day terminology to denote a certain military rank Then I began to wonder if such a classification had even existed in the Roman armed forces in those ancient times. I delight in astounding the present personalities of old acquaintances by letting them know we have known each other before. [...]

There are many variations now possible with your present “work loads” that are not visible to you because you are not used to looking for them. [...]

[...] If the analyst, over a period of time, should convince Augustus that his condition in the present resulted from some specific inhibited event in the past, and if the analyst was an intuitive and understanding man, then Augustus might change his beliefs enough so that some kind of “cure” was worked.
