Neurologically, you tune into only a portion of your body’s reality and are ignorant of the great, tiny but tumultuous communications that are ever flying back and forth in the microscopic but vital cellular world.

SESSION 762 (DELETED PORTION)

[...] In the case of secondary personalities, the main operating portion who usually directs activity might be male, displaying all of the usual male characteristics. [...]

But the outer ego as you know is that portion of the whole self that is given over to the maintenance of physical manipulations, and it perceives only through those physical equipments, those outer senses. [...] It, the ego, is that small portion of the whole self which the whole self has allowed to be completely, or almost completely, bewitched by the self-hypnotic trance. It is that portion which believes implicitly in the given specifications of the hypnotist, and as such it will be last to leave the trance.

Organized religion has committed many important blunders, yet for centuries Christianity provided a context accepted by large portions of the known world, in which experience could be judged against very definite “rules” — experience once focused, chiselled, and yet allowed some rich expression as long as it stayed within the boundaries set by religious dogma.

SESSION 697 (DELETED PORTION)

(This evening’s session was of average length for recent ones — lasting about an hour and a half, including break — but Seth devoted only the first short portion of it to Mass Events.)

[...] On page 3,600 of our own sessions I find this: “The various reincarnational selves can be superficially regarded as portions of a crossword puzzle, for they are all portions of the whole, and yet they can exist separately.”

[...] First Seth gave a page or so of impressions, names, initials, events, and so forth, that he said he “derived from a certain portion of the girl’s consciousness—disjointed memories, thoughts, and ideas.

[...] There was a crest, belonging either to the order or to our friend’s family: a four-tonged fork with a serpent above the upper portion of the handle in the foreground, and in the background either a castle or monastery.

[...] Each part of the self, while independent to some considerable degree, is nevertheless responsible to every other portion of the self; and each whole self [entity] is responsible to all others, while it is largely independent as to activity and decision.

[...] The point remains, however, that man became so fascinated with it that he has ignored the parts of himself that make the ego possible, and he ignores those portions of himself that give to the ego the very powers of which he is so consciously proud. [...]

[...] As you give inner purpose and organization to your dreams, and as you obtain insight and satisfaction from them, though they involve only a portion of your life, so the entity to some extent directs and gives purpose and organization to his personalities. [...]

This portion of the personality translates inner data and sifts it through the subconscious, which is a barrier and also a threshold to the present personality. [...]

In your society therefore the black race has represented what you think of as the chaotic, primitive, spontaneous, savage, unconscious portions of the self, the underside of the “proper American citizen.”

[...] Individuals — or races — did not have to take certain specific roles, acting out various portions of humanity’s characteristics; each person was allowed to be unique, with all that that implies.

(In some way portions of Seth’s material tonight triggered an awareness of my own—not a new one, yet it seemed somehow that it was quite significant. [...]

[...] Time is necessary, for certain portions of your personality must be given the opportunity to catch up with other portions. [...]

[...] There will be portions, therefore, dealing with sexuality, lesbianism and homosexuality, as well as the more recognized categories.

Certain methods of self-enlightenment in my book will serve as quite adequate techniques, that can be used to acquaint the known self with other portions of the psyche. [...]
