(Seth, much amused, leaned toward Pete. Jane’s eyes opened often; her voice was a bit stronger than average.)

(Seth’s manner in speaking to Pete was, on the overall, quite restrained and serious, and the difference from his usual manner was quite obvious to the Gallaghers and myself. Jane resumed in the same manner at 9:24.)

([Pete:] “Thank you.”

We were indeed about to embark upon a projection state, and the impetus had already been given. The questions, incidentally, were the result of subconscious aggression on our friend’s part, our Jesuit; quite natural, over the condition of his father. (Who is very ill in the hospital.) We will go into your questions at tomorrow’s session. (To Pete.)

Now. If I sound severe with you (to Pete) it is only because I want you prepared for these endeavors if you choose to go on with them. You have done very well, particularly in regard to your youth, and you have my congratulations indeed. But not much has been demanded of you thus far, you see, and you must prepare to work if you want to develop your own abilities.
