[...] That journey was powered by emotional impetus, personal emotional impetus.

The personal emotions and memories loosened, freed him; but the journey was necessarily destined by the particular emotions that powered it, and the destination was one, incidentally, familiar to the ego, and to some extent at least one to which both ego and subconscious were nostalgically connected.

Communications, not physical, have been established through elements of energy both within the stories and between certain individuals and Ruburt, although Ruburt is not physically acquainted with these persons.

With training some direction can be given, so that the information can be effectively used by the normal waking personality. [...]

The personality becomes aware of parts that deal with other dimensions. [...]

It is possible (underlined) that the psychedelic experience for these individuals would involve consciousness expansion directed toward (underlined) usual physical reality, and bring about a more unified personality structure from society’s standpoint. [...]

[...] It joins with portions of the inner self previously unconscious, and illuminates the whole personality. [...]

[...] The stresses and strains are in a fashion not simply those of one person and that person’s relationship with his own nature. [...] His class gave him some direct encounters through the years as he personally helped to direct others, and could watch the results through their achievements or behavior.

It is within all of your capabilities now to be alert enough in the dream state to recognize these personalities. [...]

The energy must be directed toward the personality’s main work, the two books at hand, if the personality is to progress along its chosen lines. [...]

[...] As mentioned (in Chapter One), the ego, while a portion of the whole self, can be defined as a psychological “structure,” composed of characteristics belonging to the personality as a whole, organized together to form a surface identity.
