You have first of all to explain your definition of personality, to attempt redefinitions of a very emotional kind, for when you are speaking of, say, space and time, that is one thing. When you are asking people to reexamine the whole matter of personal identity, you are setting conditions that may frighten many of them. [...]

It attempted to stop other portions of the personality from entering into the ego framework. This ego that so behaved was then simply a group of particular qualities belonging to Ruburt, that were given control for a while to meet particular circumstances, and then stubbornly refused to return to the whole personality.

There had been a tendency, as given, for a rigid personality ego framework in any case. [...]

The motive power of the universe and of each particle or wave or person within it is the magnificent thrust toward creative probabilities, and the tension that exists, the exuberant tension, that exists “between” probable choices and probable events. [...]
