When such a personality appears in history then, he is intuitively recognized, for the way has long been laid, and in many cases the prophecies announcing such an arrival have already been given.

Through the anima and the animus, so-called, present personalities are able to draw upon the knowledge and intuitions and background that was derived from past existences as the opposite sex. [...]

In the beginning, for example, there is always a distortion of material by the person who receives it, at least on the topmost subconscious level. So an individual whose personal prejudices are at a minimum is excellent. [...]

I am now in contact with your parent’s entity and he tells me that subconsciously even his present personality, that is your father, appreciates this fact and loves you deeply. He himself, that is your father’s entity, feels no pain because of the present personality’s problems, since he is working out so many necessary kinks.

(Jane also reported that twice within the past two days she had received “flashes” in the third person, to the effect that our bed, temporarily in the living room, should be moved to my empty studio in the back of the apartment if we are still here next winter. [...]

Now there are so many connections I want to make, and yet so many personal remarks I want to make, that I become all the more impatient for our still far-off release from words.

[...] Often there are complicated family relationships that the person does not know how to handle. [...] Somehow the person learns to circumnavigate the unpleasant situation, or the conditions change because of other people involved — and presto: the disease itself vanishes.

[...] Innately, each person does realize that there is life after death, and in some instances such people realize that it is indeed time to move to another level of reality, to die and set out again with another brand-new world.

Each person’s purposes are so unique and individualistic that it is quite improper to try to make any judgments in such matters. [...]

Now, I try to show you all, whenever we have a session, that what you are seeing and hearing is a demonstration of the nature of human personality. And you all have human personalities, so therefore the abilities that are shown in this room are examples of the abilities that you have within yourselves waiting to be developed. [...] The more terrified you are personally, the less you dare let down your guard, and you build up psychological walls to protect you. [...]

[...] These settings also represent your environment, the environment that surrounds your entire personality.

Data or stimuli that does not agree is a side issue, not personally applicable but present, he realizes, as fact for others. [...]

[...] The person does not believe that he or she possesses it, and mars the actual physical features so that the comeliness becomes literally invisible.

(Jane said she had felt her facial expression change, as described; at this time the data began to change, she said, from the abstract into an emotional personality who was responsible for it. [...] The personality seemed quite upset, and would have gone on to become very emotional and vehement if my wife had chosen to let it continue in that direction. [...]

[...] The gist of our attitudes is that we find it most difficult to believe that “Socrates” — wherever he is and whatever he may be doing, in our terms — is willing to drop everything to give very garbled information to a well-intentioned, really innocent person living in, say, a small town in Virginia. [...] She added: “I felt as if the James stuff was coming from a person who was very intent about trying to say something.”

[...] She’d already done some writing yesterday, for Psychic Politics, leading toward this view⁵; so whatever we learned through Seth this evening, we already felt reasonably sure that in usual trite terms Jane hadn’t been communicating directly with two such famous personalities. [...]

[...] In later years if you continue, then you will find a considerable change in the Ferd (trance) personality. [...]

[...] Halfway measures are not beneficial to the overall personality. [...]

[...] The personality with halfway measures is constantly in a state of stress and confusion. [...]

[...] Time is necessary, for certain portions of your personality must be given the opportunity to catch up with other portions. [...]

I seem less of a personality to you than the Seth that you knew, because my personality (pause) exists in quite different terms. [...]

(Once again Jane began speaking in the light, pleasant, high but not falsetto voice, that we had been told represented the larger personality beyond, and encompassing, Seth. [...]

(Jane seemed to speak for this personality, who is still nameless in our terms, quite easily. [...]

(Jane now said that she felt the larger personality, speaking freely, might present its data in something like musical notes or tones, rather than words. [...]

[...] Improvements come as the personality learns intuitively, you see, having nothing to do with time in a basic manner. [...]

Affection on your part, Joseph, is as you know very highly effective, giving all the portions of Ruburt’s personality simultaneous support. [...]

I am going to deal with some personal material here this evening, pertaining to Ruburt. [...]

Ruburt is more stable a personality than he knows, and thus he can now handle himself without dependence upon artificial supports such as his smoking. [...]

[...] The various unfortunate effects that seem to be caused by smoking are not caused by the cigarettes so much, as by those psychic habits which cause a personality to seek security within such habitual patterns that become compulsive.

When the inner patterns are broken the effects cease, but the inner patterns are associated by the personality with those outer habits. [...]

Clothing tells much about character, for a person chooses his clothing. Subconsciously he also chooses his environment, and throws his own character about it so the basic mood, the underlying mood of a personality beneath all the shifting moods, will also be expressed in color that is reflected in the entire painting, the environment as well.

[...] The people will come first, but then you will feel that their personality extends also into their environment.

[...] It will not overwhelm them, and yet they will definitely emerge from it, and psychologically this will represent to you a triumphant emergence of individual personality.

[...] The environment portion will come later, and you will sense the environment something like a mystic arrangement that a given personality throws about the world around him.

1. Jane and I have also been thinking of Mass Events as an extension of Seth’s second book, Personal Reality. It seems incredible to us, so fast has the time passed, but counting Mass Events Seth produced Personal Reality five books ago — and some five to six years ago from this moment; he dictated it during 1972–73.

[...] Indeed, our books follow their own rhythms, and this one is in a way a further elaboration upon The Nature of Personal Reality.¹

[...] Indeed, each person does attain that recognition now and then. [...]

The dream objects, then, are so cunningly, and if I may say so, almost slyly chosen, that the simplest of them may refer to instances in this existence, to personally subconsciously desired or feared objects or instances, to desired or feared objects or instances in past lives. They, such dream objects, may be the method or means with which the inner self warns the personality of future possible disappointments or disasters.

[...] As the entity expands and originates new personalities, and these personalities then become independent individuals, so do the individuals create dream or so-called dream realities and individuals of the dream universe, which are independent.

We will find in many cases, first of all, dreams originating in that layer of personal subconscious, the most simple being those that have immediate reference to daily conscious life. [...]

[...] I don’t care whether we get stuff on “Unknown” Reality, or personal material, or what. [...]

[...] Personally and as a species, you are convinced that there is a one-line series of finished events behind you.

In The Nature of Personal Reality I stated that the point of action occurs in the present.¹⁰ In Adventures in Consciousness Ruburt said, quite properly, that time experience actually splashed out from the present to form an apparent past and future.¹¹

You do this personally in your intimate lives to some degree also, as you view your earlier days. [...]

[...] It is impossible to study dreams when an attempt is made to isolate the dreamer from his own personality, to treat dreams as if they were physical or mechanical. The only laboratory for a study of dreams is the laboratory of the personality.

[...] They have no meaning outside of their relationship with the personality.

[...] These periods mark not the onset of dreams, but the return of the personality from deeper layers of dream awareness to more surface areas.

[...] The personalities which he has layered about him are not well rounded. For this reason, though this may seem strange, one-sexed personality pattern is not the best as far as incarnations are concerned.

An excess of male lives will turn a personality sour in a feminine manner, without the inner understanding and compassion that is usually associated with the female sex. In like manner consistent female personalities will turn harsh without the inner strength usually associated with the male sex. [...]

[...] You both mean very well, and part of your own entities aids me in making contact with your present personalities.

[...] When a person is feeling in good health, exuberant and alive, such queries will be nonchalantly shoved aside — they will have no effect whatsoever. But constant questions of such a nature do not help an individual who is having difficulties — and in fact too frequent expressions of compassion can also worsen a person’s state of mind, stressing the idea that he or she must be very ill indeed to attract such feelings of compassion. (5:09.) When people become ill, worried or fearful, one of the first symptoms of trouble is a lack of pleasure, a gradual discontinuance of playful action, and an over-concentration upon personal problems. [...]
