[...] I want the passages chosen to make sense on their own, out of context, and to focus clearly on the subject; at the same time, I don’t want to include too many or too few of my own notes. [...]

[...] In one passage Seth referred to some health difficulties, now resolved, that had bothered me just before our sessions with him began.

Below, I’ll quote very short passages from sessions 555–56 in Chapter 13 of Seth Speaks, while referring the reader to them at the same time, then present some additional material from the 83rd session that I saved for this note — since in it Seth discussed the theories of both Jung and Jung’s famous teacher, Sigmund Freud (1856–1939).

[...] After that passage the diligent, consistent, intuitive, and flexible seeker-after-knowledge will find horizons of which Freud never dreamed. [...]

[...] When the passages were written, the species had come to various states of order, achieving certain powers and organizations, and it wanted to maintain the status quo. [...]

[...] The quickening sensations Ruburt has felt have to do with the quicker passage of neuronal messages as the nerves are stimulated. [...]

[...] Jane and I try to keep in mind these passages of Seth’s from the private session for June 25, 1977:

[...] When the [Biblical] passages were written, the species had come to various states of order, achieving certain powers and organizations, and it wanted to maintain the status quo. [...]

A note added later: I found most of the material Seth had delivered since 10:11, but especially at this point, to be strongly reminiscent of a passage in the 657th session in Chapter 15 of Personal Reality. I’ve put together these excerpts from that session: “Each of your reincarnational selves has its own ‘points of power,’ or successive moments, in which it materializes daily existence in a linear manner from all the probabilities available to it. [...]

[...] In its ordinary dictionary sense, the term has appeared a few times in the sessions, but Seth’s use of it in the passage quoted above has a special implication, I think; one that Jane and I missed at the time of its reception. [...]

[...] I’d been especially impressed by this passage (and still am): “There is an entire global dream network, in other words, that goes quite unrecognized—one of spectacular organization in which exchanges of [...]

[...] During the whole passage, she sat almost without moving, holding the test envelope almost motionless in her right hand. [...]

I’ve noted the time every so often during each session to show how long it takes Jane to deliver a particular passage (and shortly I’ll explore further the time elements involved with the production of “Unknown” Reality). [...]

[...] There are various titles, section numbers, and dates to keep in mind, so these passages may take some rereading.

I’ll continue these notes by quoting Seth in two short passages, then follow those with a longer contribution from Jane.

[...] She had no idea, she said, of her pace, fast or slow, or of the passage of time per se. [...]

(We have had two short “sessions,” during which Jane dictated passages for the intro to Dreams while I wrote down her words. [...]

While you believe in and experience the passage of time, then such questions will naturally occur to you, and in that fashion. [...]

[...] She said she knew she was having trouble at the one slow passage, above. [...]

12. While reading those passages on identity, the reader might keep in mind the subject matter of Appendix 18: the complicated relationships involving Jane, Ruburt, and Seth.

[...] Our latest attempts to handle the mail are described in the final passages of my Introductory Notes for Volume 1. Seth’s most recent letter to correspondents is presented at the conclusion of those notes.

[...] These very passages are meant to help open the door of understanding, so that the Sinful Self itself can understand why it feels as it does, so that it can also realize that there are other systems in which its questions can at least be considered. [...]

[...] Once again she was surprised by what seemed to be the swift passage of time.

^* In these passages Seth refers to phenomena similar to parthenogenesis: the reproduction of an unfertilized ovum, seed, or spore, as in some polyzoas, insects, algae, and so forth. [...]

To me, beside whatever relationship it might have with counterpart reality, the soul-mate belief embodies strongly distorted versions of the ideas contained in the two Seth passages quoted above.
