[...] You felt that she had taken your mother’s place in the affections of your father, and she lorded her position over you. [...]

[...] Ruburt became overly concerned, trying too hard. [...]

[...] Ruburt did try self-hypnosis then, but he was so overly concerned whether or not he would meet with results that for a while he simply exhausted himself with worry and concern. [...]

On many of those occasions Ruburt’s back would bend over in the usual fashion as the knees continued their activity, because that was necessary as the adjustments at that time were made. [...]

[...] He had to bend over, but the elasticized back was simply holding itself in abeyance. [...]

[...] It would become highly important again, however, when the planet was populated extensively, as it is now — only the original feeling of home area has to be extended over the face of the earth. [...]

Actually, Seth has been describing in various ways the indissoluble relationship between consciousness and information (or consciousness and anything else), ever since Jane began holding the sessions over a decade ago. [...]

(As I talked so easily about this, without any conscious foreknowledge or preparation, I realized I’d been mulling over our friend’s letter, and that this was the way my ideas spontaneously came out. [...]

[...] The brain has built-in powers of adaptation to an amazing degree, so that innately one portion can take over for any other portion, and perform its activities as well as its own. [...]

(Jane now paused for over a minute, sitting quietly with her eyes closed.)

[...] Jane possessed strong emotional memories regarding the funeral, and clairvoyant knowledge of the envelope object in some form; evidently Seth responded to, or deliberately chose, what he perceived as the stronger intensities pertaining to Aunt Ella’s funeral over the object itself.

[...] Ruburt’s projection upon first looking over the Fox book was quite legitimate.

[...] When the excursion is over the return to the dream body is made with no strain, you see, for the ego is little concerned. [...]

[...] She wanted to go over the manuscript for her dream book, without interruptions. [...]

Since you can more or less count upon the appearance of grass seed, preceding grass, all this may seem making much over nothing, but it is very important, as you will see later. [...]

(Then, as though a switch clicked on, the thrilling swept over me from foot to head quite strongly; it sprang up from my left foot.

[...] In general outlines, I saw him as he sat leaning back in an easy chair, his right leg crossed over his left, and holding up an opened newspaper. [...]

[...] You cannot hold it in both hands and look it over. [...]

[...] At times she felt this way subjectively about Seth taking over her voice, though outwardly during this session there had been little change. [...]

[...] I am trying to put over the thought here in one way or another that as the inner senses come more and more within the field of the whole self on your plane, they take on its characteristics while yet retaining within themselves their own characteristics.

[...] We have so many things to do, turning me over, feeding me, eating at a decent time so you can get home at a decent hour and have supper —”

[...] They were psychically adding to the unfortunate circumstances over which they argued, and both equally were at fault for this reason. [...]

(“Sometimes,” I said as I talked with Jane after she’d had her lunch, “I feel like just saying the hell with it all and waiting ‘till something happens—‘till someone gets on us for money, or something—and then turning the whole thing over to Pete if necessary.” [...]

[...] We seemed to catch tiny glimpses of ordinary events before they were fully formed, and to sense the motions of probabilities invisibly but clearly stirring in the over-heated summer air. [...]

[...] Let your very deep relationship bubble over. [...]

[...] Relief and understanding in one area bleeds through into others, as before the belief in the body’s inefficiency also carried over.

[...] Such “causal analysis” then proves itself over and over again — a situation I wryly note, that’s akin to the criticism I’ve read wherein the theory of evolution is used to prove the theory of evolution. [...]

(I think it more than a coincidence that in these excerpts from Seth Speaks, Seth mentions Darwin’s theory of evolution and the Biblical story of creation in the same sentence, for those systems of belief represent the two poles of the controversy over origins in our modern Western societies: the strictly Darwinistic, mechanistic view of evolution, in which the weakest of any species are ruthlessly eliminated through natural, predatory selection, and the views of the creationists, who hold that God made the earth and all of its creatures just as described in the Bible.

(Over a year later Jane supplemented such remarks by Seth with some trance material of her “own”; see Appendix 6 in Volume 1 of “Unknown” Reality. [...]

[...] And after many centuries, the debate over the relationship between mind and brain continues, if first the existence of the mind is even agreed upon!

[...] The pendulum told her this came about because of her concern over the contract and money matters involving her ESP book. [...]

[...] Now he can stew over that.

We have had well over a hundred sessions to date, and I have here been once more subjected to the multitudinous and weighty doubts of our stubborn-headed Ruburt.

[...] I would not have been at all surprised to feel the ceiling vibrate over my head as she spoke the last sentence above.

[...] It is true that reading and writing have certain advantages over such procedures, but it is also true that knowledge possessed in that old fashion became a part of a man, and a society, in a much more personal, meaningful manner. [...]
