“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(As quickly as she could once she became aware of what was happening that Sunday morning, Jane typed a 3-page summary or outline of the contents for The Way Toward Health, including chapter headings, then wrote a very condensed statement about how the whole thing came to her. We’re presenting the statement below, and a few examples from the outline, in order to show some of her other activities while producing “Unknown” Reality. Thus, everything she’s received so far on the health book is on file, ready to be used should she choose to follow this new idea any further.

(In this appendix the emphasis is more on the circumstances surrounding Jane’s reception of the outline for the new possible book, than on its contents. In reverse order, therefore, I’ll present first the statement she wrote describing that process of reception once it was completed, then return to the outline itself.)

(Jane had some other insights into Seth’s multiple channels as she continued dictating Personal Reality after that session,¹ yet we continued to think of the new development as one of mostly theoretical interest. Close to 18 months passed. Then on the morning of March 10 — the Sunday before last — we learned that we may have to rethink the idea of Seth-Jane producing more than one major work at a time; for on that day Jane received the outline for another book, along with the knowledge that she’d need Seth’s help in producing it. The book’s title is The Way Toward Health. Jane wrote at the time, then told me, that she almost felt “the book could be Personal Reality Number Two.” She added that her experience in “getting it” was related not only to her ability to sense that sometimes more than one stream of material was available from Seth, but to the way that she herself had tuned into the information on neurological speeds late last month. That episode had taken place just before she delivered the 686th session for this volume of “Unknown” Reality, and is described in Appendix 5.

I have given you an outline that I am sure you can follow. [...]

[...] I suggest that you do up a prospectus, an outline, and some few beginning pages — say a chapter or so.

[...] As you look, you can see the dim outlines of many pictures or events—some favorable, some clearly less favorable, and some definitely unsavory. [...]

In other words, you see the outline of unpleasant events, ignore them as much as possible, and imagine how in the future they will be dispersed in the larger colored picture that you have created. [...]

[...] That its outlines for this would start to make sense and emerge, but thatthere would still be something else here. [...]

[...] Her first massive sensations in March [estimated], 1962, were followed by these phenomena in 1963: our York Beach experiences in August; her reception of Idea Construction in September; her massive feelings in October [estimated]; the outline she produced for ESP Power [or The Coming of Seth] as a result of the Idea Construction adventure; and the beginning of these sessions in November, through our trying certain experiments listed in that outline [as Jane explains in Chapter 1 of The Seth Material]. [...]

(Very long pause.) As his abilities grew, however, of course he sensed the outlines of other realities, the glimmerings of other worlds. [...]

[...] When these are followed, I will then outline further things for him to do, but these are to be utilized.

Now this is my outline for the book, and contains merely a sketch of my intentions. I am not giving a fuller outline, for I do not want Ruburt to anticipate me. [...]

[...] Ask our friend Ruburt to kindly mail my outline, on my behalf, to our friend Aerofranz. [...]

The methods that I will outline demand concentration and effort. [...]

[...] I will give you the title and other pertinent information in a later session, and if you want it an outline of intent.

(We never did ask Seth for an outline, per se. [...]

[...] The program I outlined will be of great value, as will the book for you.

You can tell, Joseph, our Aerofranz (Tam Mossman) that if he needs an outline, I will see that he gets a unique outline.

Now this is my outline for the book, but it contains merely a sketch of my intentions. I am not giving a fuller outline, for I do not want Ruburt to anticipate me. [...]

[...] Two weeks after it was finished, however, Seth dictated the outline for this present manuscript, in which he would be free to state his ideas in his own way, in book form.

Here is a copy of that outline, which was given to us in Session 510, January 19, 1970. [...]

[...] In this book Seth clearly shows how each of us can contribute to the mass reality, and concisely outlines the issues so that we don’t fall prey to disillusionment or fanaticism.

[...] Then there was a brief point of psychological rest, an almost neutral psychological platform in which Seth’s outline began to emerge.

Following this, in our next session, Seth confirmed that the material amounted to a partial outline for his projected new book, and that the title I’d “picked up” while he was still finishing Mass Events was correct. [...]

You had a strong drive to use abilities, and not usual ones, where rules of conduct or professionalism were outlined. [...] The ideas I have tried to give you—outlined, say, in the New Year resolutions—have not yet gotten through to you.

Now: I outlined some opposing ideas held by many people — all involving concepts of good or evil being applied in areas in which they do not belong.

[...] I am pleased with the outline that Ruburt prepared for another book. [...]

(The other morning in a burst of inspiration Jane wrote out a full outline, including chapter breakdown, of the book she intends to write after she finishes the first book on the Seth Material, and the book on dreams that she now has well under way.

[...] Jane wrote the outline for it in less than an hour, and says the process of intuition responsible for it was much like that which led to her production of the book of poetry discussed in the 227th and 228th sessions in Volume 5.

[...] Following the instructions in the book, I traced the outline of my hand in pencil while pressing the inked surface against the white paper. [...]

[...] The print was made to be read, or considered, after the manner outlined in the book on hands.

[...] To Jane the shapes of my fingers as outlined in pencil on the print, were steeple shapes. [...]

I will not here take credit for Ruburt’s novel outline. [...]
