The relationship between you and Ruburt was necessary before our sessions could begin. Your own illness, immediately before our sessions, was unfortunately necessary, in that it made you question the nature of your mental reactions toward physical and psychological events.

Now, I asked our friend to question himself to discover why he felt it necessary to continue the relationship, and what emotional needs were being met. [...]

The relationship can indeed be begun again, but only under completely new terms, and only with self-knowledge on our friends part. [...]

(We talked a lot about our early days together — work and our arts, prestige, money, and the opinions of others. [...] Our told troubles now seem minute in retrospect. [...]

(At 4:03 she said she was getting upset by our talk. [...]

[...] When they met, therefore our hypothetical people, they could only gasp with amazement at the ways of coincidence, and the strange fashion of chance or fate.

In Framework 2 Ruburt’s normal walking is coming about in the same fashion, only you have far more clues to which still to some extent you close your eyes, as our hypothetical friends did when they lived on the same street without knowing it.

(Jane made the remark about the earth representing our unconscious last weekend while we were driving through the countryside.

[...] At the same time there was a great clangor outside: Three firetrucks and another vehicle, all with sirens, turned the corner just outside our third-story window, evidently heading toward the temporary entrance to the emergency room. [...]

When my father, Robert Sr., photographed Jane and me on our wedding day, December 27, 1954, and then in 1957, did any of us know that his work would be published almost half a century later?

Yes, I think that in our separate ways each one of us chose to create this probable reality out of the many available.

[...] Her first massive sensations in March [estimated], 1962, were followed by these phenomena in 1963: our York Beach experiences in August; her reception of Idea Construction in September; her massive feelings in October [estimated]; the outline she produced for ESP Power [or The Coming of Seth] as a result of the Idea Construction adventure; and the beginning of these sessions in November, through our trying certain experiments listed in that outline [as Jane explains in Chapter 1 of The Seth Material]. (Two sessions have been held since our return home — to answer questions and handle other matters raised by the tour. [...]

[...] Nothing wrong with that of course but we’re still in the same arena only our explanations are better than official ones. [...]

For Seth to comment on our world is okay, but for me to somehow insist that his material offer solutions to all of men’s problems is not— instead it limits the sessions creative thrust. [...]

[...] I preferred to think of our psychic experiences as emphasizing, instead, the unknown abilities of our present consciousness. [...]

[...] I mentioned this experience briefly in How To Develop Your ESP Power, but here I’m including Rob’s notes which provide a fuller version of the event and our attitude toward it at the time.

“Our road map does not list a town called Decatur in either North or South Dakota, nor any town with that high a population in that area. [...]

Well, you will do well to give our peppery Ruburt his old divider or whatever up front but otherwise you are free as far as I am concerned.

[...] The divider Seth referred to consists of an idea of mine to build a small bookshelf arrangement over Jane’s desk, so that she will have an enclosed working area at one end of our living room next to the windows.

(The questions I referred to concern the fact that once in The Seth Material and nine times in Seth Speaks, by my count, Seth spoke of Atlantis as being in our historical past. He did so this evening also, of course, when he remarked at 10:59 that our “ideas of Atlantis are partially composed of future memories” — thus leaving room for past manifestations. [...] At any given “time,” depending on whatever information he’s given previously, Jane could just as easily quote Seth as placing Atlantis in our historic past, or in a probable past, present, or future — or all four “places” at once, for that matter. Any or all of these views would simply be repatterning other dimensions of time from our “present point of power.”

2. Our “new” hill house is really 21 years old. [...] Actually, however, we’re using the word “new” to indicate our present physical and psychological states. [...]

(After this evening’s session, however, we decided we’d like to know why in Seth’s view Atlantis had moved from its long, if uneasy residence in our “historical past” forward into a future probable reality. [...]

[...] As noted, I’m quite interested in that area, though not only in our present time frame. [...]

[...] All very well, I suppose—I agreed with Seth’s closing remarks about new creativity arising out of our experiences, yet this truth hadn’t seemed to do much to relieve the depths of feeling I’d experienced while rereading those 1973 sessions.

[...] In the short run, our troubles with Prentice-Hall lately, especially those revolving around Tam’s decision to leave Prentice full time, have touched off Jane’s latest poor reactions re her hips and legs. [...]

(While I was Christmas shopping this afternoon Jane called Tam; he’d just received our disclaimer letter. [...]

(Our weekly session was held tonight instead of last Monday evening.

[...] They included a projection through the eastern wall of our living room, and a “visitor” who returned with her; the Latin title of a book; her awareness of a third eye; some material, with diagrams, of me as a monk who wrote manuscripts in an underground chamber that he later sealed; a vision of Seth in a brown robe, looking as I’ve painted him—but the brown robe was “too easy,” Jane said suspiciously. [...]

[...] “And whoever came back with me from my projection is standing over there—” and she pointed to our front door. [...]

(Just before the session, and after we’d sat for our own experiments at 9:00 PM, Jane reported several obvious improvements—one notably in the suddenly increased flexibility of her right thumb....)

We will, instead, begin our next session with this material and for now I have a few comments to make. When you rubbed our friend’s (Jane’s) back the other evening, you did indeed improve his condition. [...]
