I cannot promise you that you have been a king, or that you will be one (humorously), nor a story reading in which you are a hero... [...]

[...] She was out-of- body often, she said, and on at least one occasion was aware of my own astral presence with her. [...] She had experiences involving caskets, death, etc...but said these episodes were separated in time, at least one of the times being quite long ago. [...]

[...] The new body is of course not a new body at all, but simply a body not physical in your terms, one that you use in astral projections, one that gives the vitality and strength to the physical body that you know.

In those cases the personality has done one of two things. It has solved one problem and decided to use the method to solve another, or it has decided that from its particular vantage point it would rather close the books and begin anew.

The girl from the monastery is perfectly all right, as long as she comes here unaccompanied by a monk, or met by one. [...] There is no harm in her coming to classes, or in the simple fact that she lives in one of the monk’s cottages.

But each atom of whatever element is an amazingly complicated, finely balanced assemblage of forces and particles woven together in exquisite detail—one of the more basic examples of the unending and stupendous creativity, order, and design of nature, or consciousness, or All That Is.

Once again, in terms of your equations, energy and consciousness and matter are one. [...]

In those terms, then, there was in the beginning an almost unimaginable time in which energized consciousness, using its own creative abilities, its own imagination (underlined), experimented with triumphant rambunctiousness, trying out one form after another. [...]

[...] In deeper terms, however, that purpose is also known now, and to one extent or another the entire universe dreams of it, as once cellular consciousness dreamed of the organs that it might “form.”

When Seth began this manuscript, I was personally working with the idea of “heroic impulses” (those separate from our usual ones) that would operate as inner impetuses toward constructive action. [...] The ones I ignored while I was looking for the “heroic” ones? [...]

[...] It represents a turning away of consciousness from ordinary reality toward an inner one. [...]

So even if I was focused elsewhere and my consciousness turned inward, a spotlight was thrown upon our world from that other viewpoint, almost as if a character in one of our dreams suddenly came awake, walked out of the dream, and dared comment on our waking world. [...]

[...] That statement is one of the cornerstones of Seth’s material, stated almost from the beginning of our sessions and emphasized throughout his books. [...]

[...] It never occurred to you that the two aspects could release one another — one illuminating the other — and both be fulfilled. [...]

In one sense meeting with you costs me little energy, it is true. [...] And so you are not the only ones who grow weary in this respect. [...]

(The portrait is one of my “people” that I had painted without a model, which is my favorite way of doing people. [...] At one time I had decided never to sell the portrait, but gradually changed my view on this in the light of my own feelings, along with Seth’s statements concerning my using my work to influence others. And then within this same physical universe, the inwardness was not content to find expression through but one form only, but in multitudinous forms and degrees. What you call reincarnation is only one aspect of a particular interest in the whole regenerative psychic process within your physical universe.

When you attempt space travel for example, you are attempting to travel around the complete fruit, but only within or upon one layer of skin. The circle is indeed important; and traveling in one dimension only about it, on the physical plane even, would require more, much much more, abilities than you have available.

(Today he told me that he’d found out Jane was in a hospital from someone he writes to in one of the Carolinas, so he called our area hospitals until he learned which one Jane was in. A simple procedure, and one I hope others don’t pick up from him. [...]

[...] I could tell he didn’t understand that to be a creative leader one didn’t follow others, but went out on his own. [...]

[...] One thing is certain: They didn’t write books or develop an original philosophy of their own. [...]

—that can appear most arduous at times, when you begin to think about the work involved, while the other part of you goes calmly on, bringing the books to the public one by one, so to speak. [...]

[...] Instead my companion was assigned this job: Each day his task was to climb back out the window with perhaps three looseleaf volumes of the Seth material tucked under one arm. [...]

I used that information of Seth’s many times while working with “Unknown” Reality. Even so, I learned that on such a long-term project it’s easy to lose that acute sense of what one really wants to do and show — but I also learned how to constantly renew my focus. [...] (I’ve often wondered how much one’s ordinary bodily aging processes are either slowed or superseded during such periods of great focus.)

[...] Seth himself always referred to “Unknown” Reality as one unit until we reached the last session. [...]

The first volume, like this one, defies easy description, then, since it leaps over many definitions we usually take for granted; and with its lack of chapter divisions it even confounds our ideas of what a book is. [...]

Logic builds its monuments step by step, one thought before the other in a series where each thought or deduction is dependent upon the thought before. [...]

On one hand, basically, the self is limitless, both electromagnetically and because of the nature of action, which affects all other action. [...]

[...] I had wondered if the increased height of the flame had resulted from the body of the candle “warming up,” since it was a thick one, perhaps five inches tall. [...]

I was also quite irritated, because Seth’s information had the ability to make things seem self-evident; from that point one was always left wondering how anything so basically clear and simple could be so easily missed and/or misinterpreted by those who most dearly wanted to put it to use. [...] Yet this kind of material gives one hope, and considering it can lead to at least momentary feelings of true understanding and concomitant hope, on my part, at least. [...]

[...] The Brenner dream is one of those. [...] Indeed, she’s the one who’s dug up many of the dream and real-life connections.

The so-called rational approach to life, as it is practiced, is a highly pessimistic one, carrying along with it its own methods and “solutions” to problems, its own means of achieving ends and satisfying desires. [...]

[...] It seems, because of the definitions you have been taught, that there is only one narrow kind of rationality, and that if you forsake the boundary of that narrow definition, then you become irrational, fanatic, mad, or whatever (all very emphatically).

(This cancellation raised many questions, since Seth had said nothing about any such event; on the other hand, his forecasts had all been prefaced by the word “if,” or similar ones. [...]

Emotions, or emotional energy, can be transformed rather easily from one to the other. [...]

While many of your expectations are formed in childhood, no switch is really stuck in one position, and it is your prerogative to channel your emotional energy into whatever pattern for action you desire. [...]

[...] It goes without saying that if all of your energy goes into money making little will be left for painting, but this is a long stretch between this equation and the one that says that an artist must be poor.
