Now, if there ever was a puritan remark it was the one that just escaped our friend, Ruburt’s lips, for in his mind still, you see, you must have this purpose and be active and it is wrong to simply go back to bed for no better reason than that you want to go back to bed. [...]

[...] One particular method is three-pronged. You generate the emotion opposite the one that arises from the belief you want to change, and you turn your imagination in the opposite direction from the one dictated by the belief. [...]

[...] The nature of some such beliefs is that while seemingly obvious ones are recognized as harmful or foolish, others connected to them may not be so easily understood.

So one of the most hampering beliefs of all, as earlier mentioned (in the 614th session in Chapter Two, for instance), is the idea that the clues to current behavior are buried and usually inaccessible. [...]

[...] This will help break the connection in conditioning, and is a first step, and a necessary one. [...]

[...] But Dick’s message was certainly a heartening one, and one I’d say that Jane could really use to good effect.

(Certainly the Richard Bach-Eleanor Friede affair is reactivating a probability that was available, of course—or one could say that Jane decided to draw from Framework 2 those certain elements to work with in Framework 1. Interesting to see what happens.

He is moving out of one house. [...]

No one in his childhood, in his 20’s, or in your early relationship, ever warned him that he could become too conservative. [...]

(Long pause at 8:58.) The Sinful Self obviously is not a burden that Ruburt carries alone, but one inherent in your civilization. [...]

(Pause.) Ruburt might have one or two imaginary conversations with the Sinful Self. [...]

Now the powers were your own and the face that you saw was a materialization of your own angers because you are not using your full abilities and so it was one part of the self, angry, yelling at another portion. [...]

[...] Now at one time you misused them, but they are yours nevertheless and now you are not using them to their full extent. [...]

[...] At one time, bear with me, (long pause) there was what we may call a federation of consciousness, though that is not the best term. [...]

[...] And if you give me a moment we will begin with one and you will always be told ahead of time if the song applies to you. [...]

[...] They see the world differently, and in one way or another they communicate that difference to friends and associates. [...]

The impulses will automatically lead to Ruburt’s greater understanding of himself, and each one in its way will be a signal to act or not to act from Framework 2—all in line with a greater pattern that seeks Ruburt’s full physical recovery and the fulfillment of his abilities.

4. The next way is to make a definite attempt, again, to live in the present, or at least to live one day at a time. [...]

[...] You should discuss any daily issues that seem troublesome when they occur, or check them with the pendulum—one or the other. [...]

The tree bark for example is not really divided from the rest of the tree, yet I must speak as if it were so divided because this is one of the apparent effects that you see, and I could not ignore what you insist was the evidence of your senses. [...] Let that one sink in.

[...] I merely mean that when Ruburt feels strongly one way or another about a particular situation that you should give the matter deep thought and consideration, since you can usually, not always but usually, trust his intuitions.

[...] And you must remember that the tragic possibilities discussed in our previous session represent but one sample of such possibilities that are occurring constantly with every individual and every family.

[...] These inner senses, if I may use an analogy again, are like hidden underground trains that carry important fuel from one country to another.

If you will think (I hope) for simplicity’s sake of the whole self as it exists on your plane with its physical body, conscious ego and inner self as one field unit, which is also part of the larger or more complete entity as one field unit within another, then perhaps it will not be too much for you to imagine the connection, or one of the connections, between the entity field and the whole-self field, which is on your plane as being the inner senses—that is, the inner senses are one of the connectives between these two fields.

[...] Until you realize that there is one self, and not one self who does and manipulates and another self who breathes and dreams, you will get nowhere quickly. [...]

[...] One of your main difficulties is that you will not accept as evidence anything which is not perceivable in one manner or another through the outer senses. [...]

I wanted to go into the invention of the soul, using mankind’s own terminology, the soul and the spirit being thought of as one and the same thing. [...]

One small note here that I meant to mention earlier. It is true in one respect, in a very large respect, that your physical universe as such does not exist, in the manner in which you suppose that it does. [...]

I have been promising you a short session so long that tonight I may finally give you one. [...]

You are both moving into a most profitable season, and a most fulfilling one in many respects, and this is the result of discipline and focused energies on both of your parts.

Before this your psychological world was a flat one, and discoveries can now be made, and new reference points be recognized, that would have been impossible before.

Your own attitude now (underlined) is most beneficial, and you are doing him a service that no one else can do; partially of course to help make up for harm that you did unwittingly. He let you (smile) do the harm, but he would have let no one else do it at the time. [...]
