If you tune into that intensity imperfectly, you will have a pseudophysical object, that is in one or more respects different from a normal object. [...]

[...] But the mental or psychic energy behind all this is the one basic reality.

In one way or another, they are always invited (underlined) — again, always invited — in response to that greater rhythm of existence in which physical life is dependent upon constant transformation of consciousness and form. Some early chapters in our latest book (Mass Events)¹ throw light on reasons other than biological ones, for such circumstances.

[...] In one way or another, most people are aware of a desire for death before they die — a desire they usually do not consciously acknowledge. [...]

[...] Your universe of positive matter is but one portion of the stuff of reality or energy as it is temporarily apparent, instantaneously, at one point within one of our imaginary cubes.

One could be compared to what I will call a before image. [...] One of the other two universes to which I refer is formed as energy is nearly approximate to your own; and energy not yet within a strong position to materialize into matter does, nevertheless, manage an early, somewhat weaker form.

The self becomes operationally scattered or divided, so that if one portion of it is attacked, the other portions can rise up in defense. [...] In times of stress, they set up an even greater isolation of one part of the self from another, which puts stress upon the system of communication, of course, so that it must be used constantly.

2. When Jane and I married on December 27, 1954, we promised each other that neither one of us would interfere with the other’s creative approach to life, no matter what resulted from the actions we individually chose. [...] Jane even agrees with me that she’s a very stubborn lady—albeit an extremely creative one—who’s determined to go her own way.

[...] In that regard, Ruburt’s response before such a session is natural, and to an extent magical, because he knows that no matter what he has been taught, he must to some degree (underlined) forget the questions and the mood that accompanies them with one level of his consciousness, in order to create the proper kind of atmosphere at another level of consciousness—one that allows the answers to come even though they may be presented in a different way than that expected by the rational mind.

So, comparing the ball to an action, you perceive but the smallest portion of any given action, even one performed by yourself. [...]

Now: One point I wanted to make for the record. [...]

(9:29.) Give us a moment… By all means encourage the dream activity, and there will be a correspondence between your dreams, your painting and your writing.² Each one encourages the others. Your writing gains vitality from your painting, your painting from your writing — and the dreaming self at one time or another is in contact with all other Aspects — capital “A” — of your reality.

As I have often said, there are concepts most difficult to explain, particularly concerning the nature of consciousness, for often in your frame of reference certain concepts, quite valid, can appear contradictory so that one will seem to invalidate the other.

This was indeed in your terms a primary cosmic dilemma (pause), and one with which he wrestled, until All That He Was was completely involved and enveloped within that cosmic problem.

Now: the dream is a continuation and a clarification of issues discussed in your own two previous dreams—the one about the magazine stores, and the one about the granary. [...]

I may indeed dictate a new letter to you (as Jane said recently), to make our position clear, but Ruburt’s main position is not one of service: it must be one of pleasure and creativity. [...]

The service station is significant on many levels, being used here as a particularly American symbol of the mechanical age, and also one that refers to a pursuit that is utilitarian and also provides service (as Jane said this morning): You deal directly with the public. [...]

In the first scene of this dream you see a probable self, who could reasonably be expected to be the kind of son your father might have, gifted with his hands mechanically, assertive enough to own his own business, however—after all, a part of the American dream, embarked upon employment that he enjoyed, and yet one that provided a service, hence physically seen between the ice (and roller-skating) rink, representing pleasure or fun, and the grocery store, representing service or nourishment. In a way, the one-line kind of consciousness that you have developed can be correlated with your use of any one language. [...] In the same way, your one-line kind of consciousness is but one of many “languages.” [...]

[...] On the one hand the statement is indeed true. On the other hand, the intricate inner workings make it impossible to separate one from the other. [...]

The unknown reality is your psychic, spiritual, and psychological one, and from it your physical experience springs.¹

What was needed was a highly focused, precisely tuned physical self that could operate efficiently in a space and time scheme that was being formed along with physical creatures—a self, however, that in one way or another must be supported by realms of information and knowledge of a kind that was basically independent of time and space. [...] It is particularly good that you see the situation here in Florida, on the spot, so that you feel free in making choices—a real Florida, not a fantasized one.

Now, all of you who come to this class, to one degree or another—to one degree or another have one thing in common—you are not afraid of the unknown. [...]

Now, if for a week, you looked at your present physical daily reality and your sleeping reality as not two separate existences but one, then they can merge in a most dramatic way. [...]

In greater terms positive and negative have little meaning, for the physical experience is meant as a learning one. [...]

[...] Once the core belief is understood to be a false one, the others will fall away.

[...] One personality may not be but one personality in your terms, as I have mentioned a man being one personality may be seen in terms of a father, a teacher, an artist, a community member and so forth.

[...] For the one main and ultimate attribute or characteristic of this infinite energy is the compulsion to be. This is the driving force, the one main law from which value fulfillment then flows.

[...] In your terms, you are obligated because of certain present self-imposed limitations, and necessary ones, to think in terms of beginning and end.

We will now come to one main attribute then of all reality, and of that that is as ultimate as anything I know—that energy gestalt which may be called God.
