Many people, of course, feel that death is a new beginning, but most of us still think that we are formed and bound by our physical bodies and environment. [...]

During this session hiatus I’ve been spending much time upon a series of letters to the publishers of Seth Speaks in Switzerland and in the Netherlands, as well as to those in charge at Prentice-Hall.¹ Last Saturday night we had a very interesting meeting with a psychologist from New York City. When all of summer’s
splendid leafery is gone
then space seems to surround
us everywhere, far and close.
The immense vault of the universe

[...] Jane and I wouldn’t be surprised if ultimately, as a result of mankind’s restless search for meaning, we didn’t end up returning in a new official way to our ancient concepts of spirit within everything, animate and inanimate. [...]

When new “threats” arose, Ruburt reverted to the old pattern. (The new threats being the death of my mother; our freedom to travel, now that we have finished Personal Reality; the absence from home and the interruption of routine, etc., as we talked about tonight.) Reading our book however kept some improvements alive, and it was but a matter of time before he would read again the sessions of work that I gave him (as Jane did today). [...]

Before we get down to Ruburt’s particulars, consider the fact that you are presently a part of a species that is specializing in the development of various kinds of consciousness, embarked upon an adventure that sees consciousness not only trying out new directions, from your perspective, but also trying to “perfect” and advance particular attributes.

[...] The material that we covered this evening is very important, and will be the basis for new turns that the material itself will take, and new avenues down which we shall travel together.

[...] The departure is as necessary as the arrival, for without it new arrivals of any kind would not be possible.

[...] Ruburt is working at all angles of the problem at other levels of consciousness now, and the Sinful Self is beginning to feel a new sense of give-and-take. [...]

By “what else,” Jane referred to a call she’d received today: Three young members of the ESP class we’d disbanded almost five years ago are in town from New York City, visiting a local friend from the old class. [...]

[...] So he spoke of his new chair and the Wanda incident and the piece of jewelry (from Frank) in one breath. [...]

[...] In the back of your mind you questioned whether giving him a new, more comfortable chair to work in was or was not a smart thing to do: would it encourage him to retreat to his room and his writing, and simply serve to intensify old conditions? [...]

Because you do not understand that your thoughts create illness you will continue to undergo it, however, and new symptoms will appear. [...]

[...] The exterior core of dreams is also blemished to that degree, but the inner core of dreams provides a constant new influx of material, feedback, and insight from the psyche, so that the personality is not at the mercy of its exterior experience only — not confined to environmental feedback only, but ever provided with fresh intuitive data and direction.
