“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(The session is included in the regular series because of the voice effects; the fact that both Seth & his entity spoke; some new ideas from both entities; and because no regular session was held the next day, Wednesday, July 16.

[...] Jane said she felt it was a good session, an unusual occasion to get some new ideas, so she went along with Seth & his entity. [...]

[...] And in a true communion, all things of this life return to the earth, and are consumed and rise up again in a new life that is never destroyed or annihilated, though always changing form.

[...] The heritage of the earth, in your terms, is ancient and yet ever new, and when you write your letters (to correspondents) you write … with your intelligence and your wit. [...]

[...] The creative abilities become even more available, hence his new creativity, and the new physical steps he has taken. [...]

You (both) are studying the nature of creativity as few others have done or can do—and that is bound to make possible new creative frameworks, and to offer new solutions to situations that cause difficulty only within smaller frameworks.

Enjoying the sounds of life in the mysterious nighttime, I intuitively understood that not only did I want to mention in this Preface the feelings Jane and I have about Three Mile Island as a technological and scientific entity, embodying man’s attempts to extract new forms of energy [and yes, consciousness, in our joint opinion] from the far more basic and profound quality Seth calls All That Is; I also knew that I wanted to indicate how the very idea of nuclear energy, as an attribute of a national focus, compared with the situation in the Middle Eastern country of Iran. [...]

[...] Nuclear power can do the same thing with a new scientific force that can be even more devastating if not carefully “controlled” [in our terms]. [...]

[...] The inner world of reality, the world of dreams, presents a model of existence in which new energy, vitality, and being is everywhere apparent, ready to come forward to form new transformations, new combinations of energy and desire.

(All more intently:) I hope that this book to some extent or another puts each of you in touch with your own inner psychological motion, your creative breath, so that you are invigorated and sense within your own minds and spirit a new promise, a new intent, and the exhilaration of earthly and spiritual strength. [...]

[...] I have been trying to lead you into a new threshold of perception, where the old myths of evolution can be seen as outmoded, ancient or forsaken castles amid a forest of beliefs—a forest that is indeed itself a magically formed one. [...]

[...] Basically, things have come down to our hopes that Jane can keep going from day to day, and that our new credo will offer her support now that Seth and she are through with their book.

[...] His somewhat induced invitation represented a new use of freedom. [...]

[...] You are, I believe (meaning me) about ready for a new breakthrough in your own work, and the boy’s visit may bring this about more quickly.

[...] Their financial success will go a long way toward the start of a new phase of your relationship.

[...] There are periods of new adjustment, and ideally the mind would take a new assessment of events.

[...] A new balance is then set up between impulse and action, that will enrich his work as .well as accelerate the body’s flexibility. [...]

(Pause.) New chapter (10): “The Good, the Better, and the Best. [...]

[...] The child naturally “competes” against herself or himself (amused) in an urge to outdo old performance with new. [...]

[...] Seth did discuss my dream of last night, explaining in some detail how I’d busily constructed a second dream self so that I could carry on a dialogue expressing creative impatience with myself: I was eager to embark upon new ventures in painting and writing, even while I was recording Mass Events for Jane and Seth, and preparing for publication.)

(Jane and I had a discussion concerning the questions I have compiled to ask Seth, via our new system, before sessions, hence our getting started late. [...]

[...] Entirely new, and interesting, data.)

[...] My original question, which Seth has been discussing ever since, was: “What does the new personality, the larger Seth, think of our time system? [...]

(I’m getting used to thinking about Mass Events now, and am organized to start producing the notes for it—something like making myself a new nest within which I can feel comfortable for working on the new job.

[...] Taking probabilities into consideration, there are cultural movements involving the western world as it tried to form a new philosophical stance, and our books may well provide a highly valuable alternate position for people—again—between the passionate beliefs systems of religion in many countries, and the overly objective dictates of science. [...]

[...] Science allied with the government has its own dogmas, however (intently), so the civilized world will be looking for new alternatives. [...]

[...] I was also still thinking about her reaction to the sessions themselves: the idea that she could feel inferior to Seth and/or the material was, as I noted, a pretty new one for me, and somewhat surprising. [...]

(She’d spent considerable time today looking over her 1973 notebook/journal, and combining new notes with fresh insights arising from that old material. [...]

[...] That is, if once he disliked crowds, a new purpose and understanding should let him rise above such nonsense—but there has always been a kind of singularity there (long pause)—a characteristic need to go his own way. [...]

(In some way portions of Seth’s material tonight triggered an awareness of my own—not a new one, yet it seemed somehow that it was quite significant. [...]

(1. Was there any connection between Jane’s Cézanne, and the New York City Cézanne show appearing at practically the same time? [...]

(2. Did Cézanne “himself” have any sense of awareness, or of completion, connected with Jane’s book and the New York City show happening at the same time? [...]

[...] Ruburt, you see, does not say “I must have a certain new book next week.” [...]

His inspiration comes now from all of history, and from that larger reservoir he forms the new focus of his art. [...]

Following this, in our next session, Seth confirmed that the material amounted to a partial outline for his projected new book, and that the title I’d “picked up” while he was still finishing Mass Events was correct. [...] Seth will say again, “Now: Dictation,” and Rob will make up a new title page for his notebook.

[...] Rob and I have been given a new, vaster philosophical structure through the Seth sessions, one that we share with our readers. [...]

[...] I see it as harking back to the poet’s original role; to explore the reaches of his or her private psyche, pushing against usual psychological boundaries until they give, opening up a new mystical territory — the psyche of the people, of the species itself — perceiving a spectacular vision of inner reality that the poet then communicates to the people, translating that vision through words, rhythm, or songs.

(I finally reached the point where I told Jane, the day before this session was due, that I had decided to stop reading the New York papers so thoroughly. I found it a sad experience to read about the race situation, Viet Nam, the conditions of life and crime in New York City, etc., although of course I realized that much of this news meant something was being done about some urgent problems.

The basic source of your difficulty was not new. [...]

It was no coincidence, however, that you plunged into reading the New York papers during your stay in bed. [...]

[...] As time passed, and while I pored over several daily New York City newspapers plus Elmira’s daily paper, I came to realize to a small extent that poor expectations on my part had much to do with my falling ill.

New paragraph: Even in your private lives, however, there are clues as to other kinds of sequences in which events can occur — and do. [...]

(10:12.) Instead you have a rich interweaving of probabilities; for in one probability the two were indeed married, and that Stella [Butts] saw the house go to the eldest son (myself). In this probability, this Joseph instead comes upon the house of a relative stranger, finds it for sale, and can or cannot purchase it according to the new set of probabilities then emerging. [...]

New paragraph: This is, however, a clear case of the interweaving of probabilities. [...]

[...] Now when you feel that you have this new image of your past self before you, then imagine that your consciousness is moving from your astral form into this past self. [...]

(“What did you think of those people [meaning the Craigs] coming up from New York?”

[...] By “this territory” Seth meant Elmira, New York.

(9:27.) Ruburt has had many excellent signs, particularly in his bathroom behavior, this week—as old patterns of posture were broken, and new methods of walking and so forth were tried out. There is some anticipatory motion, in that while in one position the body anticipates new motions—better ones—that it cannot as yet take.

(I haven’t started any new creative ventures yet, although I’ve done considerable work filing, organizing records, etc., to set the stage for whatever develops. [...]

[...] Evidently Iran wants to bring the hostage crisis to an end because of the economic boycott the Western world has imposed upon it, because in January it will have to deal with a new United States president, and because of the military pressure being exerted against it by Iraq. [...]

(Long pause at 9:55.) The Christ story in the beginning was not nearly as singular and neat as it might now seem, for the finally established official Christ figure was one settled upon from endless versions of a god-man, with which man’s psyche has long been involved: He was the psychic composite, the official Christ, carrying within his psychological personage echoes of old and new gods alike—a figure barely begun, comma, to be filled out in time, although originating outside of it (again, all very intently).

[...] Master events of that particular nature bring about a completely new interpretation of historic events. [...]

[...] These new opinions, of course, add to the positive suggestions that both you and Ruburt give to him. [...]

[...] But when you return to that from which you have come, when you return to what you think of as God, by then new creativity will have already begun, consciousness will evolve in new ways and there will be new challenges. [...]

All That Is loves all that it has created, down to the least, for it realizes the dearness, and the uniqueness of each consciousness which had been wrest (spelled) from such a state and at such a price; and it is triumphant and joyful at each new development taken by each consciousness, for this is an added triumph against that first state, and an added security against that first state, and it revels and (takes) joy in the slightest creative act of each of its issue.

I have been sent to help you, and others have been sent through the centuries of your time, for as you develop you also form new dimensions and you will help others. [...]
