(I then saw very clearly in my upper center field of vision an open, full-lipped and sensuous pair of red and feminine lips, with a triangular kind of tongue moving between them. I saw only the mouth and tongue, and for some reason thought of a cardboard tongue. The mouth spoke the words “Oh now please, please bear with me,” or words to that effect. As usual this vision was over before I realized I had seen it, yet during the sighting I was for the first time unaware of my body lying on the bed.

(Immediately the mouth vanished, I was swept from head to toe by my familiar thrilling, the feeling of sound. The sensation was very strong and suffusing, almost one of ecstasy. I felt about to be swept up and away. I realized that I was smiling, and that beneath the blindfold my eyes were open. The sensation continued strongly through my body for perhaps a minute or two. I waited for further developments but none came, although the feeling lingers now at 10:25 PM.

(In this experiment sound, light and sensation were involved. I wonder whether the mouth was a more or less conscious creation to explain the vigorous feeling sweeping through me.)

[...] The mouth area is being completely restored. The mouth was sore due to realignments as bones are gradually being released from pressure. [...]

The tensing of the jaw is highly important here, and has in the past prevented adequate healthy blood circulation to the gums—also causing, with the shallow breathing, the sinus difficulty, which exerted additional pressure to the cheek and mouth areas. [...]

[...] You became anxious and breathed quicker then through the mouth, as you became worried about your teeth—and the habit causes the difficulty in your mouth. [...]

[...] My mouth feels somewhat better, although still tender and somewhat swollen in the lower jaw. [...]

[...] I’ve begun keeping my mouth shut, and the throat difficulty has lessened, although not disappeared yet.

(“Boston...avenue...Nina,” [whispered; mouth odd again] “stolen... [...] Again Jane jumped on the couch, her mouth odd. [...]

[...] The mouth was odd again. [...]

[...] Mouth odd. [...]

The ideals were mouthed but not believed. [...]

[...] The ideals then are mouthed, but they are not taken seriously. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) If there is an honest struggle, an honest effort toward peace and brotherhood, then even if war erupts on a practical level then the psychic development is healthier than if no effort toward peace is made, or if ideals are merely mouthed.

[...] She sobbed, her face wet, her mouth contorted.

[...] With her mouth closed tight she was making grunting and keening sounds as she moved her body, over and over, expressing vocally the same efforts she was making physically. [...]

The tooth symptom is a result of those feelings, and of tensing the mouth and jaw. [...]

[...] Lately my throat, or the roof of the mouth, has been uncomfortable. [...]

(Now Jane seemed to be whispering to herself and then mouthing the words just a bit louder, but so low I had to lean close.)

(All through here, Jane mouths the words, and repeats them a bit louder than a whisper.)

(However, her new lower teeth were bothering her a great deal; her mouth was so sore she couldn’t eat part of her lunch. [...]

[...] Since her recent tooth extractions, Jane has noticed an increased mouth dryness after she’s spoken for a while.)

[...] Although everyone about me was talking quite loudly, I had the weird sensation of voices within me, of mouths open or crying in soundless rhythm.

Often when you read a book you silently mouth the words, as if to reinforce their symbolic content with a more emotional immediacy. [...]
