[...] So we decided not to ask Seth to backtrack and give us material about the son my mother’s probable self had had in her reality, even though that son was a probable self of mine.

[...] But I was determined that he understand our feelings—or mine, at least, in no uncertain terms, for as we talked I could feel him start using words to paper over our upset about foreign rights; I felt that his tactics would only make it possible for the whole thing to happen again with succeeding books, and that I was going to short-circuit at once. At the beginning of these notes I wrote that three months passed after Jane finished Chapter 10 of Dreams before she held her next session—a private one—on November 9. In that short session Seth sought to add his reassurances to Jane’s own, and to mine as well.¹⁰ On the 12th Columbia was launched as scheduled, but only after another delay caused by the failure of an electronic decoding unit. [...] I was afraid that Seth’s claim to clairvoyance might be subconscious bluff—his or mine—and I didn’t know if I had enough courage to call the bluff or not. [...]

It is you, not I, who have been speaking of secondary personalities, and I will not here waste your time and mine in a discussion of why I am not one.

[...] One of the egos that was mine, you see, is a part of Ruburt’s whole personality, and we use this as a bridgework. [...]

Direct experience in these inner senses will give you a much clearer picture of them than any words, even mine, can do. [...]

He was, and is, afraid of commitment to his own work, much less mine. [...]

[...] The divider Seth referred to consists of an idea of mine to build a small bookshelf arrangement over Jane’s desk, so that she will have an enclosed working area at one end of our living room next to the windows.

[...] For his own benefit and mine, two or three times a week he should sit down and write out his feelings, as he began to do last summer. [...]
