[...] Even then the question arises of public response to trance messages when they contradict official thought—and your questions about how the material might be misused as you explained in God of Jane very well, and—How “responsible” is the conscious mind for trance messages?—How responsible are you for Seth’s messages? [...]
JANE’S NOTES
(“Honestly,” Jane said the morning after last Wednesday’s session, “I think I was doing book work in my sleep the whole night — only I kept hearing my own voice instead of Seth’s. I even thought of getting up and trying to write down the material, except that I didn’t think it would really work that way. [...] One of Jane’s previous experiences in obtaining book material in advance — that on bridge beliefs — is described in the 644th session in Chapter Eleven. [...]
(Jane was very active in ESP class last night, and especially so while speaking and singing in Sumari. [...] At the same time it seems that Jane is trying to convey several sounds or ideas at once, with but one set of vocal chords.
[...] Jane and I had taken a few days off to travel.
(Maria had scanned Jane the previous evening. While Seth was speaking Edgar hypnotized Maria so she could scan Seth and wondered if Maria should tell Seth or Jane her findings.)
(Jane gives reincarnational information to Edgar and Maria.)
[...] Maria remarked there was no change or fluctuation in the lights while Seth was speaking than she had seen in Jane the previous evening.)
(As we were eating lunch today Jane said she thought Seth would discuss the question of good and evil, re our conversation on those subjects the other day. [...] Once I’d written it down, I saw that its subject matter fit in very well with the idea of good and evil, and told Jane I hoped Seth would use it in any discussion of his own.
(I had another question for Seth: What should Jane do about her walking on days when she doesn’t feel like doing so—as today? [...]
(I was so surprised by this statement that I stared at Jane—whereupon, as Seth she thought I hadn’t heard it properly and repeated it.)
[...] The trip to Saratoga was a great success, and Jane did experience many of the ideas, realizations, feelings, etc., detailed above by Seth. Both of us enjoyed seeing the town again immensely, and Jane without doubt has now put Saratoga in proper perspective, both as to her past, present and future. [...]
[...] There are no karmic influences that necessitate the particular physical condition (in Jane).
(Last August Jane received a letter from Nelson Hayes, who was one of her professors at Skidmore. Actually, it was a note from him to Prentice-Hall, asking for review copies of the Seth books, and that his note be forwarded to Jane. [...] I kept the letter, finding it after it had been initially misplaced, feeling for some reason that Jane shouldn’t answer it at the time: I trusted my intuitions, then. [...] Jane mentioned the note at various times, wondering what had happened to it.
(Jane has been employing to good effect Seth’s suggestion about using the red star, as he gave that idea in the last deleted session. [...]
(A note: This noon, Tuesday, I mailed to P/H Jane’s manuscript for James. [...]
[...] I heard Jane listening to this evening’s segment while I was working in the writing room. [...] And as soon as Seth opened the session, I understood at once how he was going to link that tale with Jane’s own hassles. [...]
(Once again—by 8:47—Jane was very uncomfortable, trying again and again to find a tolerable position in her chair so that she could hold the session. [...]
[...] My ideas had been triggered by an article I’d read yesterday in a recent Science Digest article, which I’ll file: At first glance, I’d told Jane later, the article seemed very good. [...] “There’s something very wrong with that guy’s thinking,” I told Jane. [...]
(In my original and unpublished notes in Session 520 in Seth Speaks I listed three chances for the fruition of Seth’s prediction: The mention in Cosmopolitan of Jane’s ESP book for April 1970; Tam’s news about New American Library being very interested in the Seth material book; or Jane’s contract for the dream book being in the mail from Prentice-Hall.)
[...] It is deleted from the record since it deals with the excellent results Jane achieved using the pendulum today.)
(On the evening of April 2, while brushing her teeth, Jane got this flash from Seth: “You need to relearn the joy of physical achievement.”)
(Long pause and Jane goes into a deeper trance.)
([Ron L.:] “Do you see, in other words, when Jane is speaking can you see the room or do you only see the room?...”)
[...] When Ruburt is Ruburt, or if you prefer, when Ruburt is Jane, then I let him take care of his own perceptions and I am simply aware of you as you are. [...]
(I’m sure that Jane tires of hearing me periodically rehash views that the species has engaged in at least three major wars in a little more than half a century, plus a number of “smaller” ones. [...] To send our young to the battle field under those circumstances, then, to deprive individuals of the one life — the one priceless, irreplaceable attribute — seems the worst crime imaginable, I told Jane. [...]
(The page proofs for Jane’s The World View of Paul Cézanne arrived in the mail from her publisher this morning, and she’s been busy correcting them most of the day since — checking the type for errors in spelling, punctuation, omission, and so forth.)
(Not at all, at least from Jane’s and my viewpoints….)
1. Those “other projects” included work by Jane and me on Emir and Volume 2 of “Unknown” Reality, respectively. (Jane has been told that everyone at Prentice-Hall, her publishing house, “just loves” Emir.) A couple of weeks ago Sue Watkins delivered the last two chapters of the manuscript for Psyche that she’s been typing for us; we still have to check that book and finish the notes for it. Then yesterday Jane received from her publisher the copyedited manuscript for James, so during the next week or so we’ll be very carefully going over that work, too.
[...] Jane and I let the holiday season intervene to some extent, and Session 816, which came through the day after Christmas, didn’t concern book work at all. [...]
(11:02 P.M. Jane’s delivery in trance had been excellent — concentrated and steady.)
[...] Jane then was speaking for Seth’s entity. Ned and others were concerned that Jane couldn’t exert enough control to come out herself. [...]
(Jane called back to me that she was all right during a break, and this and my waking up served to end the session. Jane said she felt it was a good session, an unusual occasion to get some new ideas, so she went along with Seth and his entity. [...]
(Jane later said there was a short break here, while Seth’s entity prepared to come through. Jane didn’t get any pyramid feeling though. [...]
Jane has great energy and power at her disposal when speaking for Seth, and I can often feel those qualities as though they form a collective palpable entity in itself. [...] Nor is Jane ever exhausted by speaking for Seth — rather, she reports an infusion of energy, both subjectively and objectively. [...]
Still, Jane and I do have our cats inoculated against feline distemper and respiratory viruses; pets acquired at humane societies (as ours often are) have already shared an infected environment. [...] Jane and I strongly recommend that parents thoroughly investigate and understand the pros and cons involved with each inoculation their children will receive.)
[...] As I wrote in Note 2 for the first session of Mass Events, which Seth-Jane gave a week ago, we’re having the front porch of our hill house rebuilt. [...]
(Once again, Jane was uncomfortable because of the very humid evening.
[...] I’d written a detailed account of it upon arising, as I do with all dreams I recall, and Jane had read it as we ate breakfast. [...]
[...] Seth did discuss my dream of last night, explaining in some detail how I’d busily constructed a second dream self so that I could carry on a dialogue expressing creative impatience with myself: I was eager to embark upon new ventures in painting and writing, even while I was recording Mass Events for Jane and Seth, and preparing for publication.)
