As I mentioned, the sixth inner sense involves something that can be likened to what you call the instincts, except that it is a property of the inner self. [...]

What you have in the spider’s activity amounts to a demonstration of the sixth inner sense almost in its pure form. The spider has no intellect or outer ego, and his manipulations are the direct result of activities performed by pure and spontaneous use of the inner senses. [...]

All of the inner senses are not utilized to the same degree on any plane. Many planes are given over to the training in the use of one or two of the most important inner senses. [...]

[...] It protects the inner self by acting as a barrier that keeps the whole self’s energy controlled, and keeps it from seeping away. [...]

The inner knowledge within you existed before the nervous system existed, before there was a brain capable of learning language. [...] There is an incident in your life, and it did indeed have to do with the use of inner perception. [...]

[...] There is no basic trust of the inner self. The personality does not basically recognize or trust the ability of the inner self, and this results in an intense inhibited fear.

The ego of the personality does not trust its own inner organisms. [...] The ego is therefore in its present circumstances because it fears itself so solitary, since it has to a large degree cut itself off from its inner self; yet not entirely, for the intuitive still speaks.

(For the record: On June 1,1965 I mailed to Dr. G. H. Instream a letter explaining something of Jane’s ability and the Seth material, plus a list of the inner senses, a list of the basic laws of the universe, and copies of sessions 138, 141, 142, 149, 153 and 154. [...]

It is precisely because the inner vitality is not accepted by the ego, that when it is acknowledged by the ego it seems so explosive. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) In his case he must accept himself as a human being before he can hope to discover the inner self. [...] There was a definite splitting of personality elements, and a complete abandonment by the inner self of the ego.

The ego takes care of physical matters so that the inner self can go about its other concerns. [...] The inner self is then in a precarious position, for it must also attempt to deal with physical reality.

He had not found a strongly centralized inner self as yet, that could take over the organization of the entire psychological structure. [...]

He intended a strong inner self to take over control of the entire personality. [...]

[...] It recognizes its identity as a part of, underlined, the inner self. Therefore basically it has no need to fight the inner self, since it knows its survival is dependent upon this inner framework.

In other words, portions of the inner self have joined the strictly egotistical functions. [...] It joins with portions of the inner self previously unconscious, and illuminates the whole personality. [...]

[...] The ego has accepted the goals of the inner self. Its identity has already changed, so that its main concern, underline main, is no longer primarily with physical manipulation, but with inner growth and development.

[...] In true expansion of consciousness then, you become more and more aware, more conscious, underlined, of inner realities that were previously never realized on a conscious level. [...] It simply changes not only its form, but its inner core, accepting as a part of itself realities which it previously ignored out of fear, ignorance and insecurity.

You will in all cases attempt to construct as physical reality your inner conception of what reality is. [...] If the environment changes it is because your inner conceptions have changed, and no smallest alteration is made within physical reality, that has not first been made within the inner self.

Now I have told you time and time again, my friends, that you construct your physical universe and your private environment in line with your inner expectations, for they mirror perfectly the deepest areas of your own inner reality.

[...] The tumor was formed by inner concentration. [...]

All of these matters, you see, and many more, from the considerations of health and the formation of destructive ulcers and tumors, to the construction of any simple physical object, to the construction of an apparition—all of these are in one way or another connected with inner focus and concentration.

[...] Certain important kinds of creativity demand incubation periods, during which the conscious mind cannot follow the inner processes. It goes its own way, concentrated in day-to-day reality, while the inner portions of the self amass great information, perhaps, try out new organizations, and utilize the inner senses. [...]

Ruburt’s creativity not only involves that kind of behavior, but the mystic elements of the personality, meaning that the inner activity is very intense, so that Ruburt learned from a young age to develop a certain kind of secrecy. His poetry was largely mystical poetry, and though he did not dwell upon the fact, he realized that this vast inner reality of his was quite beside the point of living as far as other people were concerned.

To some extent, he tried to emulate their behavior—that is, to behave the way they did, while at the same time he intently pursued a rather adventuresome inner psychic existence. [...]

He became quite good at expressing this inner life regardless of other circumstances, and the situation at home, and he understood that it was at odds with what was expected. [...]

The inner self does not know the meaning of time. [...] The inner self knows far better, and the inner self goes its way acting as if time did not exist because it does not exist. [...]

“Because dreams are such a perfect combination of stimuli from the inner environment and the exterior environment, other events are often used to trigger inner dream messages, just as the opposite occurs. [...]

[...] Even then, you might not recall the dream, but the situation itself as it comes to your attention might make you check your tires, decide to put off your trip, or instead lead you to inner speculations about whether you are going too fast in a certain direction for your own good at this time. According to Seth, our own desires, focuses, and intents dictate what inner information we draw from the endless fields available; for he sees all knowledge existing at once, not as dry data or records, but enlivened by the consciousness that perceives it. [...]

The implications of such statements for education are astonishing: Besides teaching rote information, our schools and universities should acquaint us with as many fields as possible; for these act as exterior triggers, bringing forth natural inner knowledge, sparking skills which are waiting for activation by suitable stimuli in the exterior world.

While Seth dictated this book, devoted to the potentials of the psyche and its reception of inner information, my own experiences — as usual — seemed to serve as object lessons backing up his thesis. [...]

Seth maintains that inner information often comes into our minds, though it is sifted through our individual psyches and tinted by our own lives so that frequently we never recognize its source. [...]

[...] (Long pause.) You become overconcerned with the egotistical situations, and hamper the inner self.

[...] It is possible for the inner and outer egos to merge to some extent, and this merging when it occurs does indeed represent the formation of a new kind of consciousness.

[...] When this occurs the inner and outer egos merge. [...]

[...] Here with this realization the inner ego may suddenly open. [...]

[...] Your friend Larry (Herschaft) was quite perceptive, and your Dialogue sketches and the rock (face) show on your part a growth qualitatively of artistic understanding, and technique used to the service of inner realities.

[...] This will allow you to give form, literally—in your terms at least—to the formless, or rather to realities whose inner forms are not usually fully perceived.

[...] These caused you to probe into the nature of your own beings in most intimate fashion, and yet were meant to lead you into that inner world of events—because each of you wanted to take that chance, and make that journey.

The inner dynamics of being—physically materialized—presuppose challenges, and those are set adventurously, always with the knowledge of creativity, and of various solutions. [...]

[...] There is no doubt of the many improvements, made up of a series of inner improvements that do not show as yet, except as the time element presents itself—i.e., he gets over here (apartment 5) quicker and easier.

The legs do not appear straighter as yet, however (which Jane has been concerned about), but the change of tempo there reflects greater inner coordination. [...]

[...] The dreams were meant to encourage him and to show him that the inner order of events does assure his improvements.

The promise in the dream made by you, that the events (of Jane’s great flexibility)were indeed happening, represented your inner knowledge that he would make it now, and his own realization of the fact, as well as the body’s acknowledgment. [...]

The inner ego knows what it is about. This inner data is transmitted through the mental genetic system by way of the generalized molecular consciousness to the chromosome system, and the chromosome system then translates data into a physical code for the cells to follow. [...]

[...] It goes without saying that mankind is not alone in maintaining the physical universe, and in giving it continuity as he projects and constructs his own physical image; and as this image is the direct result of his own inner psychic climate, and as it reflects most faithfully his own inner joy and illness, and as this joy and illness shows itself physically in his image, so also do all living things construct their own images, and help to maintain the physical properties of your universe.

[...] It is because every atom and molecule contains within it condensed comprehension, inner, direct, codified comprehension, of the inner universe as a whole, that these atoms and molecules are capable of such varied combinations and variations.

There is also a mechanism within the subconscious that allows for the materialization or projection of idea or inner vitality into physical construction. [...]

[...] This will lead up to the basic communication used by human personalities as you understand them, and point out these inner communications as existing independently of the physical senses, which are merely physical extensions of inner perception.

There will be a final chapter in which I will ask the reader to close his eyes and become aware of the reality in which I exist, and of his own inner reality. [...] In this chapter I will invite the reader to use his “inner senses,” to see me in his own way.

Seth intimates as much in Chapter Four, when he says, “Now the information in this book is being directed to some extent through the inner senses of the woman who is in trance as I write it. Such endeavor is the result of highly organized inner precision, and of training. [...]

[...] I do know that each individual has access to intuitional knowledge and can gain glimpses of inner reality. [...]

[...] Instead, we have the realization of some inner difficulty. [...]

[...] Be still and listen to your inner voice. [...]

[...] I am here, and because I am here I tell you that your own inner self does continue to exist, and as I teach others now, so shall you also be witnesses of the existence of All That Is. [...]

Now: The animus and the anima are, of course, highly charged psychically, but the origin of this psychic charge and the inner fascination are the result of a quite legitimate inner identification with these personified other-sex characteristics.

[...] To prevent an overidentification of the individual with his present sex, within the male there resides an inner personification of femaleness. [...]

The anima in the male is, therefore, the psychic memory and identification of all the previous female existences in which the inner self has been involved. [...]

(Pace slower.) They not only have a reality in the psyche, however, but they are imbedded in genetically codified data by the inner self — a genetic memory of past psychic events — transposed into the genetic memory of the very cells that compose the body.

(Following a discussion of last week’s session, Theodore M. stated he wasn’t sure he would acknowledge his inner secrets to himself, much less reveal them in class.)

[...] We are speaking of an unburdening of the inner self as you now know it and a setting down of burdens so that you can get to work, for the burdens and the secrets represent boulders in your path, and you must either step around them or open up the skies of the soul so that they simply disintegrate in the sunshine. On the other hand there are those who stress the great value of the inner self, the emotional being, at the expense of the conscious mind. These theories hold that the intellect and usual consciousness are far inferior to the inner “unconscious” portions of being, and that all the answers are hidden from view. [...]

[...] Yet there is nothing basically inaccessible about such “inner knowledge or experience.” [...] It can quite freely focus into inner reality when you understand that it can. [...]

There has been on the one hand a too-great reliance upon the conscious mind — while its characteristics and mechanisms were misunderstood — so that proponents of the “conscious-reasoning-mind-above-all” theories advocate a use of intellect and reasoning powers, while not recognizing their source in the inner self.
