I have explained to you how the inner self is connected to the present personality, and how the emotions at your end change through the layers of the subconscious, begin in your plane as parts of the personality, and as part of your force field, and then are transformed and become the inner-sense connective that connects the outer ego to the inner self.

[...] Now in these tests you will reach the inner self. [...] The emotions are the outer extensions of the inner senses, and it is therefore through the intuitions and traveling, the traveling of the pathways of the emotions, that you will come in contact with the inner self, and therefore be able to carry back this information in the same manner.

Your animals possess a closer bond by means of the inner senses. [...] The universe expands, again, in terms of value fulfillment, and in ways which your outer senses cannot comprehend.

[...] It will be discovered that the inner senses represent your only long-lasting method of such travel.

The inner senses of the tree have strong affinity with the properties of the earth itself. [...]

And while awareness of clairvoyance is fairly rare, it does exist; and though watered down in most instance, is a natural method of warning individuals of happenings with which their own outer senses would not be familiar. It is a natural method of protecting the individual by giving him an inner knowledge of events. Without constant clairvoyance on the part of every man and woman, existence on your plane would involve such inner, psychological insecurity that it would be completely unbearable.

The inner senses also convey the knowledge that death is merely an energy transformation, and your almost numberless religions merely represent idea symbols that attempt to make this knowledge plain to the ego. [...] They have managed in some way to make this inner knowledge a part of the ego-understanding of the species.

[...] And in your case you are learning to transform inner energy by forming it into physical constructions that the plane enables you to manipulate by the formation of particular outer senses for this purpose. [...]

(10:44.) This physical perception in no way alters the native, basic, unfettered perception that is characteristic of the inner self, the inner self being the portion of the soul that is within you. The inner self knows its relationship with the soul. [...] You must also realize that while I use terms like “soul” or “entity,” “inner self,” and “present personality,” I do so only for the sake of convenience, for one is a part of the other; there is no point where one begins and another ends.

[...] Close your eyes after having read this chapter to this point, and try to sense within yourself the source of power from which your own breathing and life forces come. [...] When you feel within yourself this source, then try to sense this power flow outward through your entire physical being, through the fingertips and toes, through the pores of your body, all directions, with yourself as center. [...] The physical senses actually can be said to create the physical world, in that they force you to perceive an available field of energy in physical terms, and impose a highly specialized pattern upon this field of reality. Using the physical senses, you can perceive reality in no other way.

[...] So basically the inner portion of you, the soul-stuff, will not suddenly change its methods of perception nor its characteristics after physical death.

Some of the basic shapes in your physical universe are, therefore, reflections of these inner psychological structures, more or less reproduced in matter. These are in one sense certainly tangible to the inner self. It is these inner psychological structure patterns to a large degree that determine the shape and form of physical structures.

[...] The physical construction is then perceived by the outer senses as threatening and fearful, and influences through the outer senses the inner individual, so that he begins a vicious circle in an attempt to form further, more threatening physical constructions to combat the earlier ones. [...] The inner senses represent such psychological structures. [...]

The form perceived by your outer senses is always composed of matter, of course. There are also however forms or structures that are what you may call psychological forms or structures, even within your own field, which you do not perceive with your outer senses, but which are nevertheless frameworks that underlie form as it appears in matter.

The inner senses can be thought of as transformers, where various kinds of data is sent to proper channels within the personality, channels which bypass ordinary physical channels. [...] These reasons have to do with the electric actuality of the inner self, and with that counterpart of the physical body which exists within the electric field.

[...] It then can join or partake of the inner self. In other words, though the ego was adopted originally by the inner self, and was a product of physical heredity and environment, it does not die; but its existence is changed from physical reality into electrical reality. [...] No individuality is lost, but it becomes a part of the inner self, and its experiences are added to the total experience of the many personalities that have composed the inner self.

The outer senses cannot perceive the unity. The outer senses can only perceive the apparent diversity within the physical system alone, for the outer senses do not perceive directly any other system but the physical one.

[...] The inner identity and individuality, as you know, has its origins long before this. The inner self adopts an ego in order to allow manipulation within the physical universe, and yet part of the ego is composed of portions from the inner self, while the bulk of the ego is allowed to develop through physical heredity and environment.

[...] (Jane indicated the living room in which we sat.) The senses serve to blot out many more aspects of reality than they allow you to perceive. They are actually rather rigid limiting devices, yet in many inner explorations you will automatically translate experience into terms that the senses can use.

When you are dealing with inner, or basically nonphysical environments, you must again become unspecialized, and then learn a new set of principles. You will soon learn for example to trust your perceptions, whether or not the experience seems to make logical sense.

[...] The unifying and the limiting aspects of consecutive moments are absent in inner reality. [...] You are not forced to perceive action as a series of moments within inner reality, therefore.

Individually, you move in a very limited area of this vast universe, and yet inner reality is more (long pause) massive in size, if you speak in terms of size. [...]

[...] It is simply the only reality that you perceive with the physical senses. In order to perceive other realities, you must therefore switch from your outer senses to the inner senses, for the inner senses are clearer, and are equipped to perceive action and reality as it exists independently of the distortions given to it by the physical senses.

[...] Your outer senses do not perceive electrical realities of this nature. [...] The chromosomes are the physical materialization of the inner electrical data.

[...] Neither is it aware of the manner in which the inner self creates physical matter. Neither, therefore, is it aware of those distortions that cause it to construct faults within physical matter, for in all cases the physical matter of the human body will be subconsciously created in line with inner conditions.

The inner self does indeed have an overall conception of the goals and strengths of the personality. It is then this inner self that must be searched for the answers. [...]

[...] All of these belong to the realm of the inner senses. The inner senses represent your true powers of perception. [...] The physical senses are relatively easy to distinguish: You know what you see from what you hear. [...]

[...] They are a part of your inner senses’ larger spectrum of perception, and in the dream state you were not relying upon your physical senses at all.

The inner senses, though I have in the past described them by separating their functions and characteristics, basically operate together in such a way that in your terms it would be highly difficult to separate one from the others. [...]

There is, as I have told you, an inner (pause) “psychological” universe, from which your own emerges, and that inner universe is also the source of Framework 2 as well. [...]

[...] Even though you are out of your physical body however, you will attempt to translate experience with its learned patterns rather than switching into the inner senses. [...]

The brain however often does not see the inner logic of the emotion’s reoccurrence, or the inner connections that make it again pertinent. [...]

[...] Initially and basically perception is not dependent upon your senses. [...]

[...] Such contact therefore would always take place beneath so-called normal perception, and even then you would have to translate this inner perception, as you do any into terms you could understand as physical creatures.

Through his inner senses however, he sensed your energetic support. [...]

[...] The shoddy construction, never perceived at all by the outer senses, is registered by the inner senses.

These constructions exist definitely in terms of atomic structure, but of such different densities and speeds that you are unaware of them though they are perceived by the inner senses, and utilized by the subconscious and inner self as a very important reality.

[...] In the near future glimpses will be perceived with the use of instruments, but use and recognition of the inner senses will result in a quicker recognition.

[...] Unfortunately, science as it has developed in your time has resulted in a mistrust of the individual, and saddled him or her with a sense of powerlessness, subjectively, even while it has added a seeming sense of objective power. I say that it has seemingly added a sense of objective power (intently during a fast delivery). [...]

[...] But that order would recognize the inner validity that is within the self; and the inner order, unseen, that forms the integrity of the physical body, likewise would form the integrity of the social body. [...] This presupposes, however, an understanding of the inner self and an exploration into the unknown reality of the individual psyche.

[...] Learning would take advantage of the latent inner knowledge of the subjective self, and help it interpret itself in terms of physical life. [...] Efforts could then be made to understand and interpret private symbolism, and individuals within a society would be taught to take advantage of their own inner data to enrich their personal lives and help the community.

[...] I think that I always sensed this about Seth. It wasn’t that I mistrusted the Seth personality, but I felt it was a personification of something else — and that ‘something else’ wasn’t a person in our terms … Yet in an odd way I felt that he was more than that, or represented more; and that his psychological reality straddled worlds … I sensed a multidimensionality of personality that I couldn’t define.”

[...] You can understand in fact the way in which sense images are organized much more clearly by studying instances where sense images exist without an actual object representing them in the physical universe. This shows that sense impressions are independent, you see, of objects.

You will in all cases attempt to construct as physical reality your inner conception of what reality is. [...] If the environment changes it is because your inner conceptions have changed, and no smallest alteration is made within physical reality, that has not first been made within the inner self.

Now I have told you time and time again, my friends, that you construct your physical universe and your private environment in line with your inner expectations, for they mirror perfectly the deepest areas of your own inner reality.

[...] In all cases, if the ego consciousness is to be reached, some sense imagery is necessary.

They must be interpreted instead through the use of those inner senses of which I have spoken, for these are the basic tools of the inner self. I realize that it is frowned upon to speak in terms of a limited intellect, which cannot understand a whole reality because of a built-in deficiency; nevertheless while it is true that the intellect by itself cannot grasp or comprehend inner reality, this should not be thought of as a deficiency inherent in intellect.

I would like here to discuss a fact about which we have spoken briefly in the past; that is, that the inner world cannot be examined with the outer senses, that indeed the main purpose of the outer senses is the interpretation of the outer or camouflage existence.

They were adapted to meet a specific situation in which the inner self found it must operate, and it therefore took unto itself the adoption of these specific constructions. Therefore since dreams are manifestations of inner reality, they cannot be interpreted or investigated with any success through the use of the outer senses.

[...] The inner self constantly changes its focus. I have said that consciousness is merely the direction in which the inner self focuses at any particular time. In order to examine the reality of dreams it is necessary to change the focus of the inner self to those directions in which the inner self moves, when the ego does not limit its scope to camouflage reality only.

[...] Therefore, within your senses there are other senses that perceive inward. Your regular senses perceive an outer world. The senses within the recognizable senses perceive and create an inner world … once you exist on a particular plane you must necessarily be attuned to it while blocking out many other perceptions. [...] As your ability grows in relation to the environment then you can afford to look around, use the Inner Senses, and enlarge your scope of activity. [...]

[...] Seth began by advising us to have a more balanced social life—to go out more and mix with people—so as to counter the intense inner activity of psychic experience. Then he launched into his first discussion of the Inner Senses, a subject which was entirely new to us. [...]

[...] After the initial discussion of the Inner Senses, Seth said, “I did not intend to make you work so hard this evening, Joseph. [...]

Again, on reading the notes we were fascinated by the material, particularly since Seth told us that he was going to explain these Inner Senses more fully, and teach us how to use them. [...]

If you want to change your job, and hold that desire, a new job will come into your experience in precisely the same fashion, in that the inner events will be arranged by the inner ego. [...] An event involving a job change concerns motion on the part of many people, and implies a network of communication on the part of all of the inner egos involved. Obviously, then, a mass physical event implies an inner system of communications of proportions that would put your technological communications to shame.

As you have an ego, fully conscious, directed toward the physical world, you also have what I call an inner ego, directed toward inner reality. [...] It can stretch its capacities, becoming far more aware of inner events than it is normally allowed to do, but its main purpose is to deal with the world of effects, to encounter events.

The inner ego does the actual work that brings about the events you have decided upon. In very simple terms, if you want to pick up a book, and then do so, you experience that event consciously, though you are quite unaware of all of the inner events that occurred to bring the motion about. The inner ego directs those activities.

The communication between the inner and outer egos should obviously be as clear and open as possible. As a general rule, the inner ego depends upon your assessment of physical events. [...] The flow of creativity begun by the inner ego will be impeded.

^* Inner vibrational touch is one of our Inner Senses. [...] To paraphrase: Using this sense, an observer standing on a typical street would feel the experience of being anything he chose within his field of notice: people, trees, insects, blades of grass. [...] This sense is like empathy, but much more vital.

[...] That was a portrait of Joseph; in other words of your own inner identity as you intuitively perceived it at the time. [...]

[...] You have been connected with the same entity, though you have sprung apart from it, but the inner relationship adds to the power available. [...]

As Seth continued to explain the inner sense and the unseen reality beneath the objective world that all of us know, I began to understand a little of my situation. And, of course, Rob and I both began to experiment with the inner senses. [...] The next session cleared up several points I had been wondering about and gave us several clues as to how the inner senses could be used. [...]

The inner senses are actually the channels through which the entire composition of any plane is appreciated and maintained. [...] The inner senses, then, are the means. [...] These diverse materials, again, are only camouflage formed by the inner senses upon the ‘material’ itself.

(This appreciation of concepts is, according to Seth, the using of some of the inner senses, and he has mentioned this many times. He has called the 4th inner sense the conceptual sense, and began to develop upon this about a year ago, March 23, 1964, in the 37th session.

These three dilemmas represent three areas of reality within which inner reality, or inner vitality, can experience itself. And here we have also the reason, or one of the reasons why, inner vitality can never achieve complete materialization. The very action involved in vitality’s attempt to materialize itself adds to the inner dimension of inner vitality.

[...] While talking about action and identity, she had an inner perception of a whole concept, of some kind of inside visual sense of action without seeing any object. [...]

[...] Inner vitality, materializing in any form whatsoever, at once multiplies the possibilities of further materialization. At the same time, because inner vitality is self-generating, only a minute fraction of inner vitality is needed to seed a whole universe.

[...] The seasons as you know represent the physical construction of the inner psychic climate. As particular portions of matter are transformed, as the inner self, through the inner senses creates a simple material object that is picked up by the outer senses clearly as, say, a table, so are these other constructions that closely mirror inner reality that are perceived by the outer senses as effects.

[...] We will soon begin to return to the inner senses, tying them in with our discussion on matter.

[...] The emotions are the extensions of the inner senses, as I have told you–

Psychic sympathy can be expanded in some space of the mind, of any mind, of any inner mind. All things are known, for in the depths of the inner self emotional sympathy is endless. By sympathy I refer to an inner connection, an attraction, not necessarily a pity.
