[...] If an individual offends you, and you honestly accept your feelings, then he knows of this and is simply made aware of a circumstance. In this instance you are offended, then he can make whatever changes he so chooses, but if you ignore the feeling and the affair happens again, then the charge is built up and becomes harmful. And then he may be hit by the super charge at some later date. [...]

(Following a discussion of last week’s session, Theodore M. stated he wasn’t sure he would acknowledge his inner secrets to himself, much less reveal them in class.)

[...] If another individual under the same circumstances comes across the same potential object, he can also perceive it as you did. He may however, because of his own makeup, perceive and translate another portion of allied pattern. He may see the form of the man who originated the thought of the building. [...]

[...] Using the root agreements just mentioned as a basis for reality, an observer would insist that the objects were not real, for they do not behave as he knows objects must behave.

[...] He began to look at his own experience—to some extent, now—through that medical cast. (Long pause.) He saw how unfortunate its results could be. [...] Ruburt became very frightened, however, as he saw where such a trend could lead. [...]

Ruburt is doing well under these circumstances—I am referring to the last few days—with the help from you that he did indeed so need. [...]

[...] The actual work involved in the selection of data is still made according to the beliefs in the artist’s conscious mind as to who he is, how good an artist he is, what kind of artist he is, what “school” of artistic beliefs he subscribes to, his ideas of society and his place in it, and esthetic and economic values, to name but a few.

[...] He tries to project them upon his canvas or board. [...]

He has fought me a good deal of the time. [...] He knows what he is doing. [...]

Ruburt may feel betwixt and between, as indeed at times he is, but only occasionally. [...] Also, if Ruburt is experimenting as he is with the trance state in psychological time experiments, it is a good idea that some of this experimentation be carried on by him under our excellent supervision; and after consideration I think that you will agree.

[...] He (Oliver F) does not speak often of many matters in which he deeply believes. And because he does not speak of these, you do not realize that he has a full and varied innerlife. And that his thoughts go inward, though he does not speak of them. [...]

[...] This idea also came back, reading a book on William James Peggy G. gave me for Xmas—his attitudes and mine so often seem similar—that he was determined to be daring, press ahead no matter what, explore consciousness—while at the same time being attracted to safety, disliking controversy, wanting peace, etc. [...]

[...] He surprises me with a great white sweater for an anniversary gift....)

[...] You blame him and yell at him and then you wonder why he does not treat you right. It is a wonder he did not boot you out of the universe. [...]

[...] At this present stage he is activating portions of the body in new ways. [...] In the meantime he should realize that the process itself is therapeutic. When it is over he will have far better use of his arms and legs, as they will work together more smoothly. [...]

It is amazing how man regrets the hours spent in sleep, for he does not realize how hard he works when his ego is unaware.

Again however, through this excellent balance and these fine controls, the ego will accept knowledge derived from the dream state, as a man might accept a message from a distant land in which he does not care to dwell, and whose environment would both mystify and frighten him.

[...] Yet on another level he is doing very well, for he is bringing about a situation in which men must question the nationalistic intent of this “one God.”

2. In connection with Seth’s discussion of animals and men here, see his excellent material in Chapter 12 of Personal Reality. Summarizing parts of that chapter very simply: In Session 647 Seth goes into the challenges early man faced as he contended with his own burgeoning consciousness. In Session 648 he discusses animal instinct, health, illness, and suicide, and the eras during which men and animals mixed. For the same session Jane contributed impressions of her own on animal medicine men.

[...] Ruburt is quite correct in his supposition of what he calls “multipersonhood” in Adventures.¹

(2. “Are these units of consciousness that Seth started talking about in the last session the same as the EE units he described in Seth Speaks, a development of that original idea, or what?” [See Note 3 for Session 682.]

[...] Ruburt has often said, “Some of my correspondents expect me to be completely healthy, wealthy and wise, and indeed beyond any human feelings,” and he is quite correct.

In Ruburt’s case, he began with a group of ideas and beliefs that only became restrictive when carried to extremes. [...]

The husband, now, should follow this exercise three times dail: He should imagine the energy and vitality of the universe filling his wife’s form with vitality and health. Not a wishful thinking sort of thing, but a definite effort to understand that her form is indeed composed of this energy, and in this way he can help her use it to her advantage.

[...] John asked Jane, whom he has never met, if Seth could give any data that might help John’s wife Peggy, who has multiple sclerosis. [...]

If possible he should touch her during this exercise, and it should be done morning, noon and evening. [...]

[...] I wanted the paintings to be priced so people might buy them, but he said that wouldn’t be proper in a funeral home. [...] He hemmed and hawed, as they say, but finally I told him to forget the whole business. [...]

[...] Earlier in the afternoon I’d described my very vivid dream of last night, and asked that Seth comment on it if he came through: I’d found myself in a large studio, painting like mad on large canvases. [...]

There was some disorientation on Ruburt’s part because of the unaccustomed motion, but he handled that well. [...]

Ruburt’s improving vision also carries a hint of that mysterious inner knowing—for on a conscious level he cannot know what nerves or muscles or blood vessels are activated, and yet the improvements show themselves with that same ease and freedom. [...]

(10:04.) He did not sleep in long blocks as you do. [...] He also crept out to seek food when he hoped his predators were sleeping.

[...] He awakened often, and surveyed the nearby land and his own place of shelter.

[...] He should tell himself, again, that it is perfectly safe to move, that the body’s safety, in fact, is dependent upon its fluid motion, so that the muscles are free to relax and contract. [...]

This afternoon’s physical performance does indeed represent another important breakthrough, for he felt within him that ease and motion, that release of tension that is so vital for his body’s normal, healthy performance. [...]

The images he is using, as per the belt for his dungarees, is an excellent example of how old familiarity of motion can come to his aid. [...]

[...] He did go into your thing about matter, didn’t he?” She added that the poem Seth had referred to is the one I used to conclude the introductory essays for Dreams. [...]

[...] Paul O’Neill came after we’d finished lunch in 330, and took impressions of Jane’s lower gums for relining her denture—a soft denture, he explained, and Jane wouldn’t get it back before Friday. [...]
