(During this time I was watching Jane in an attempt to determine whether we should call a halt to the session. It was apparent that her control with this new method was somewhat unsure; she paused often while speaking, and appeared to have to make quite an effort to maintain just the right balance between being herself while allowing Seth to hover just below, or within her range of consciousness, so that she could pass along his data. Her eyes blinked often. I thought she could slip into a deep trance from this state, and she later agreed. She did not want to, however, in our location, and just as I was on the point of suggesting that she end the session, she called a halt to it herself. In a few moments she was out of the trance.

The halt, above, refers to Jane’s laying aside the book for Doubleday for the moment, and her decision to begin work on a book on the Seth material itself.)

I believe that before this scene, he’d had another similar episode, where an accident had halted his performance and he’d ended up frustrated and confused, but I don’t remember it clearly enough to describe.)

(Pause; my interpretation; her eyes closed, Jane attempted to write in the air with a finger the words she tried to pronounce.) De, I believe, seven—Savrantinos (halting pronunciation) I said concordi—Concordiat de Savrantino.

When the ego is using its abilities in an unfortunate manner the inner self sets up warning systems, sometimes even bringing the physical organism to a physical or symbolic halt to prevent the ego from doing further damage through misdirection.
