When you directly experience an emotional event, when you are at its heart, so to speak, then you do not seem to experience physical time. [...] The dream experience however is always free of the realization of physical time, practically, for you experience dream events directly from the center of awareness.

[...] Events are indeed clairvoyantly perceived in the dream state. On the other hand in many instances the sleeping personality solves a problem, and therefore causes the physical event because it is the result of the dream work involved.

In many cases he perceives in a dream a future physical event, and then within the dream situation acts out various possible solutions, until he hits upon the most agreeable one. [...]

In a way I hope to explain, then, the genetic system also reacts to those beliefs and events that are paramount in any given civilization. Events can trigger genetic activity—not simply through, say, chemical reactions, but through individual and mass beliefs about the safety or lack of it in the world at large.

As an analogy, most events are this high. (Jane held up her cigarette lighter.) The events in the times of the Crusades, for example, were this high. (Jane raised an arm over her head, full length.) Following the analogy the times, the physical times in which they would ordinarily have occurred, would have ended, say, here—(Jane indicated a spot six inches above the lighter)—but the energy was so great that it catapulted some of these events, displacing what you think of as time, so that they appeared, as Hitler did, where theoretically, now, they should not have.

[...] The realization has to do with results from the sessions mentioned, and the ensuing events.

Dreams are not just psychological events. There is a dimension of reality (an “objective” dimension, if you prefer) in which all dream events happen. [...] I know that we can on occasion manipulate dream events; my students and I do this frequently. [...]

[...] Seth maintains that we will understand ourselves as dreamers only if we are also aware of the larger environment in which dreams take place, that we interact in the dream state as we do in the waking one and that we form mass dream events as we form physical events on a mass basis.

[...] When the world-view enlarges to include more sophisticated cultural environments then, however, the body must rely upon the conscious mind’s interpretation of events. [...] The body might object, but it still must rely upon the conscious mind’s interpretation of events, that it realizes are beyond its realm.

[...] There are periods of new adjustment, and ideally the mind would take a new assessment of events.

(No session was held yesterday, Sunday, January 8. However, there are several events from yesterday that I want to summarize here.

[...] They feel safe and protected even when the events of their lives do not seem favorable. [...]

[...] All of those beliefs impede mental and physical health, erode the individual’s sense of joy and natural safety, and force the individual to feel like an unfortunate victim of exterior events that seem to happen despite his own will or intent.

(Long pause.) You had your own experiences last evening: your foreknowledge of your friend’s phone call, and the unorthodox (long pause) knowledge about the money — and those two events happened because you did indeed want another small assurance of the mind’s capabilities despite the official concepts of the mind, by which you are so often surrounded.

[...] On Friday after she came home I’d said it was vital that we have sessions in order to try to find out just what events had triggered the whole event of her latest illness from the very beginning. [...] I still think Janet’s troubles are rooted in resistance, I said, massive resistance, and that the latest rounds were triggered by the publication last year of God of Jane and Mass Events. [...] Jane still felt the finger’s condition was the result of other muscular events in her body. [...]

(Long pause at 9:10.) But that our fears lead us, so that at times we’re almost bound to interpret such events as life-threatening, and that’s why we called the doctor, of course. [...]

[...] Yesterday’s events reenacted in a dream touch off familiarity. Tomorrow’s events in tonight’s dreams do not, not at least to the ego. [...]

[...] It is only for this reason that certain events seem to be always in your future: this lack of recognition, identification, acceptance and organization into patterns that can be used and manipulated.

Behind the events therefore are highly charged beliefs about (underlined) reality, that you have not examined, either of you, and about your relationship with each other, your stance in regard to the outside world, as well as ideas about freedom, spontaneity and responsibility.

I want you then to make a list of your beliefs concerning those events. [...]

[...] Even in your accepted reality, then, to that extent in such a dream you react to probable events as well as to the events chosen for waking physical experience. [...]

[...] So, ideally speaking, the history of your species can be discovered quite clearly within the psyche; and true archaeological events are found not only by uncovering rocks and relics, but by bringing to light, so to speak, the memories that dwell within the psyche.

Actually reactions to events do control other events. [...]

[...] He is fond of saying that if you cannot control events, you can control your reactions. [...]

(No session was held on Sunday, December 18, but I want to summarize the day’s events, for some important points evolved. [...]

[...] I began to get very tired—probably, I thought, a reaction to the morning’s events. [...]

(Jane had read my summary of yesterday’s events, holding the pages up with both hands in what already seems like a more normal way for her—as if she’d been doing so all along. [...]

[...] “That’s not bad, considering the time,” Jane said, pleased that she’d had the session after all of the other events of the day. [...]

[...] Rob was preparing Seth’s The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events for publication. We were both caught up in the same events as most other people were during that June and July — the hotter-than-usual nights and days, the drought in parts of New York State that touched our area lightly, the TV news drama as the political parties argued and planned for their conventions. As Seth I’ve produced five previous books: Seth Speaks; The Nature of Personal Reality; The “Unknown” Reality, Volumes I and II; The Nature of the Psyche; and The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, and Seth is halfway through a sixth book: Dreams, “Evolution,” and Value Fulfillment. [...]

My feelings “clicked;” the incident was significant; and it seemed to fit in too perfectly and meaningfully into the events just previous, as if saying “yes, you do operate magically” … and this is an example of how those perceptions work. [...]

[...] His existence may simply lie in a different order of events than the one we’re used to.

[...] Many of those events occurred as I tried to understand the relationship between his world and mine, and the connection between inner and outer experience.

All of them cast certain “atmospheric conditions” or reflections that color physical events as you know them. [...]

(Although Seth didn’t call this session book dictation, Jane and I decided to show portions of it in Mass Events for two reasons: 1. The material in Note 1 can be taken as an extension of the discussion on reasoning and the intuitions that Seth gave in the 825th session. [...] This thinking also applies to anything Jane and I may want to add on either of those two mass events.

(“I haven’t had too much time to think of questions, but today we were talking about the relationships between Jonestown and Three Mile Island — how those two events stand for the extremes of religion and science.” [...]

[...] He identifies with events over which he is aware (underlined) of having some control.

[...] Events, many events, are simultaneously perceived. [...] Such a personality is able, in your terms, not only to react and appreciate event A, say, in your present time, but also to experience and understand event A in all of its ramifications, and all of its probabilities.

He is becoming more aware of inner events, so as he dozed he felt inner manipulations that were physical but not physical. [...]

[...] He is working intimately with subjective and objective experience, correlating dream events and physical life.

[...] Checking with the pendulum, when any possibly annoying events occur, is excellent.

[...] Ruburt feels safe enough in your lovemaking activities, and that exuberance and response is excellent, so again, make sure that such events become a part of the normal expression of your lives.

[...] As you talk to each other in the bedroom before sleep, since you, Joseph, fall asleep so quickly, remind yourselves together that as you sleep you will attract from Framework 2 the very best events in all areas of your lives.

[...] I wondered if it was legitimate to say that the group of dreams was a precognitive insight into the one event—the Friday night gathering. [...] Not that the dreams presaged Friday night’s event per se, but pointed toward some sort of event like it taking place. [...]

Now: let us see how recent events reflect the dream, and how they appeared in the dream in symbolic form. The physical events I refer to are the encounters with the Gallaghers and Sue Watkins Friday evening—the discussion of philosophy, the sense of conflict and mixed emotions.
