Now. As I have told you, there is duration of a kind. What would correspond, in any case, to your idea of duration within the spacious present; it is a matter of intensities however. Now the entity is in itself composed of such intensities. Simply for the sake of analogy, imagine the image, a humanoid one, of an entity giant-sized, spread out anywhere in your physical universe. And if the image were projected against a midnight sky, within its apparent boundaries then you would see a multitude of planets and stars. Let these represent moment points. On one hand they are a part of the entity, as your cells are a portion of your body. On the other hand the entity’s consciousness can travel through these. They are doorways within his own psychological makeup, into experiences.

Now the moment points could also represent various personalities belonging to the entity, portions of its own consciousness that it sends upon the journeys of exploration and discovery. It is as if the nuclei of a cell could travel through itself. The boundaries of the entity would be imaginary, taking in as many moment points as the entity felt it could handle. (Pause.)

The entity and its time are not separate. They are one. Basically time is simply psychological experience, regardless of the lapses between perception or the manner of perception. The entity is its own experience.

It is only because you have a highly limited conception of your own entity that you insist upon its being almost sterile in its singularity. [...] There are no limitations to your own entity: therefore, how can your entity or soul have boundaries, for boundaries would enclose it and deny it freedom.

[...] I usually use the term “entity” in preference to the term “soul,” simply because those particular misconceptions are not so connected with the word “entity,” and its connotations are less religious in an organizational sense.

The trouble is that you frequently consider the soul or entity as a finished, static “thing” that belongs to you but is not you. The soul or entity — in other words, your most intimate powerful inner identity — is and must be forever changing. [...]

[...] Jane didn’t know whether Seth, or his entity, would speak. Shortly before she went into trance at 9:15, she whispered to me “The other one,” meaning that Seth’s entity would speak. [...]

It was instrumental, with many other entities, in the early formation of energy into physical form. We are not alone in this endeavor, for through your centuries other entities like us have also appeared and spoken.

[...] We are therefore always a part of the one entity which is the Seth entity. [...]

Nothing remains unchanging, personalities and entities least of all. [...] You cannot stop an entity or a personality in time, as you would like to do. [...]

As the physical atoms and molecules combine to form cells, and the cells to form physical organs, and as they do not lose their individuality in so doing, and as the atoms and molecules themselves actually gain and share in higher perceptions because of this gestalt, so do the basic components or fragments of an entity constantly form new and varied personalities; and these in turn form entities of their own.

There is indeed no contradiction, though it may appear so, in the fact that all entities existed before your planet was formed, and the fact that fragments form new entities. [...]

(The last time Seth’s entity spoke was in the 446th session for November 6, 1968. We had wondered at times why the entity hadn’t spoken more often; Seth has said little about his entity, and we did not ask that this personality speak tonight.

(At 9:16 Jane said she was waiting to see what developed, that she was getting a hint of the pyramid feeling; which usually means that Seth’s entity will speak in place of Seth. (I wondered aloud about a couple of points: What decides when Seth’s entity is going to speak? And whether the entity could help out in things like health. [...]

[...] The entity then, or greater self, is composed of souls. [...] The entity has its existence in multitudinous dimensions, its souls free to travel within boundaries that would seem infinite to you. As the smallest cell within your body participates to its degree in your daily experience, so does the soul to an immeasurably greater extent share in the events of the entity.

Think of the greater you — call it the entity if you want to — as forming a psychic structure quite as real as your physical one, but composed of many selves. As each cell of your body has its position within your corporeal space and boundaries, so each self within the entity is aware of its own “time” and dimension of activity. [...]

You however do have free will, for while the entity’s psychic structure can be compared to the body, it is a part of and inhabits far greater dimensions. [...] Yet your daily experience is as connected with your self or entity (abruptly louder, briefly), as it is with the cells of your physical form.

[...] In the present then each person has unlimited opportunity to draw upon the entity’s energy, and the understanding and powers of all of its parts. [...] In the same way, every individual possesses the abilities of its entity in latent form. [...]

[...] In terms of energy, again, the vitality of your entity impinging into three-dimensional reality forms a particle that is your present being. [...] Each of your “presents” becomes charged, filled with potentiality; and your entity, itself conscious energy, is also enriched by your various experiences, by the combined and magnified power of its own “past.”

(Long pause.) Since these offshoots or life-tracings each come from your entity, they are connected psychologically and in terms of electromagnetic energy patterns. [...]

The entity operates its fragments in what you would call a subconscious manner, that is, without conscious direction. (Jane dictates:) The entity gives the fragment independent life, then the entity more or less forgets them. [...] It’s as impossible for the entity to control fragment personalities as for the conscious mind to be aware, or control its own heartbeat. [...]

In some submerged manner all fragments of a personality exist within an entity, with their own individual consciousenesses. (Jane dictates:) They are not aware of the entity itself. [...]

Was fragment of his own entity, a past personality regaining momentary independence on visual plane. [...]

Since all entities had a hand in when the first particle of matter came into physical materialization, then the inference is plain that entities not yet born upon your planet somehow existed then, and this is the case. [...] The fact is that entities always were and always will be, though not necessarily in the same form.

The fact is that your plane originated because enough entities needed certain types of experience to warrant such a creation, and they set about forming it through the process of evolution. [...] The smallest minute first portion represented the will and vitality of all the entities that would ever dwell upon the earth that would come after.

This involves on the part of the entity the use of personalities, which are in a manner capsules of itself or even compartments—part of the whole entity but neatly divided as far as memory and so forth is concerned. [...]

These questions are worked out by entities between lives, and each entity has many problems to consider. [...] The basic problems are necessarily kept from the personality by the entity simply because so many psychological undercurrents would sweep the ego off its feet, and pull the rug of sanity from beneath it.

[...] From the information you have been given before, and from the above paragraph, you should know that you are in contact with your own entities, in that the mind is a portion of the entity to begin with. I have told you that communication between a present personality and the entity is carried on by means of the inner senses, and I have told you that in these sessions you use the inner senses. [...]

The entity in this case would be compared to the mind. [...] As the brain gives orders and communicates messages to the various parts of the physical body, so would the mind or entity do in like manner. [...]

Sleep is the entity’s rest from physical idea construction. [...] The entity withdraws into basic energy realms and is comparatively free from time since idea construction is at a minimum level. The entity is in contact with other entities at a subconscious area.

After death, the entity will have its ghost images (memories) at its command, though their apparent sequence will no longer apply. Memories are properties of the subconscious energy entity and, as such, are indestructible (though they may be unavailable to the individual under various circumstances).

The ability of the entity to transform energy into an idea and then to construct it physically determines the entity’s place on the physical evolutionary plane. [...]

(9:28.) The soul, therefore, or entity, endows three-dimensional reality, and the three-dimensional self with its own properties. The abilities of the entity lie within the three-dimensional self. [...] In learning to use these potentials, in learning to rediscover its relationship with the entity, the three-dimensional self raises still further the level of achievement, comprehension, and creativity. [...]

Not only is the entity strengthened, but portions of it, having been actualized in three-dimensional existence, now add to the very quality and nature of that existence. [...] The soul or entity then gives breath to the body, and to the three-dimensional self within it. [...]

Entities or souls, in other words, send out portions of themselves to open up avenues of reality that would not exist otherwise. [...] They must, however, come to understand their roles as actors, “finally” from their roles, and through another act of comprehension, return to the entity.

(Seth’s entity, who is nameless in our terms, spoke this evening, rather than Seth. See the 464th session for February 10, 1969; this is the last time this entity spoke to us. Seth’s entity hasn’t spoken many times; the 464th session and earlier ones contain detailed notes as to the manner of speaking used by the entity, etc.

(At 9:09 Jane told me that for the first time in a long time she felt like “the other personality,” meaning Seth’s entity. [...]

[...] There was no announcement of a break by the entity. [...]

[...] The three men were a part of one entity, gaining physical existence in one time. [...] There are reasons why the entity did not return as one person. For one thing, the full consciousness of an entity would be too strong for one physical vehicle. For another, the entity wanted a more diversified environment than could otherwise be provided.

The entity of which these personalities are part, that entity which you may call the Christ entity, was aware of these issues. [...]

[...] He will clearly state methods by which each individual can attain a state of intimate contact with his own entity; the entity to some extent being man’s mediator with All That Is.

[...] The father does not rob the artist of free will, nor does the entity rob the personality of free will. [...] The entity may not either aid or prevent any choice that the personality may make. The entity may not like any particular choice made by the personality, but he, the entity, cannot change the course that the personality chooses to take.

If you say that the personality cannot take any choice of which the entity is not aware, then this is true; but it is also true that the entity is utterly incapable of changing that choice made by the personality, even though the entity knows about the choice ahead of time, so to speak.

[...] I have said that any of you and all of you create a dream universe of validity, actuality, durability, and for Philip's benefit, self-determination, in the same manner that the entity projects the reality of its various personalities. As there is no contact between the entity and the ordinary conscious ego, so there is no contact on a conscious level between the self who dreams and the dream world which has its own independent existence.

Entities, if they prefer, and under various conditions, when they become acquainted with others, may introduce to each other if they so prefer, various portions of their personalities. [...] Take for example entity A and entity B. Self 4 personality of entity A may get along quite nicely with B’s self 6. A’s self 2 and B’s self 2 may not get along well at all, so the entities will shift to those personalities which have the greatest rapport, and use them to establish a relationship.

In such instances the entity does not try to hold the personality back. [...] It may become a part of another entity, as it searches for support. [...] This may ultimately turn into another entity.

In nontime these portions of the entity exist quite freely, without any time barriers to separate them. [...]

[...] Jane then was speaking for Seth’s entity. [...]

Individual life, or the life of the present individual, could be legitimately compared to the dream of an entity. While the individual suffers and enjoys his given number of years, these years are but a flash to the entity. The entity is concerned with these years in the same manner that you are concerned with your dreams. As you give inner purpose and organization to your dreams, and as you obtain insight and satisfaction from your dreams though they involve only a part of your life, so the entity to some extent directs and gives purpose and organization to his personalities during their existence. And so does the entity obtain insights and satisfactions from his existing personalities, although no one takes up all of his own attentions.

Condensed time is the time felt by the entity, or experienced by the entity, while any of its given personalities “live” (and you had better put that in quotes) on a plane of physical materializations. [...]

There exists infinities of diversity and opportunity for the personalities, and this diversity is given to it, to it meaning the personality, by the entity. Your own dreams are fragments, even as in a much larger sense you are fragments of your entity. [...]

(Jane continues:) In a sense the present individual in any given life could be called a fragment of his entire entity, having all the properties of the original entity, though they remain latent or unused. [...] This type of personality fragment is of different origin than your friend, who is himself a fragment of his own entity. [...]

Jane’s entity is an extremely strong one. Her intuition represents glimpses by her present person of her whole entity. [...] However, she is not operating at full entity level any more than you are, so you cannot rely upon her intuitions to catch all the mistakes that you may make.

[...] As Joseph represents the fullest potentiality of your entity the image of the man represents a possible, though I hope not probable, pitfall image of your present personality, though not of your overall entity.

[...] And as soon as you say, “My entity is this,” or “My entity is that,” it is already something more. [...] Why do you think you can keep track of your entity or of a god? [...] Your entities have realities and dimensions that you do not perceive. [...]

([Theodore:] “Is it the entity that has been evolving from this chaos, or is it the ability of the entity to manifest itself that has evolved—or both?”)

[...] For the entity itself is involved in a surprise, in a new creation. [...] And the entity, and even God himself—pyramid gestalts—must be involved in surprise and new creations. [...]
