“Individual life, or rather the life of any present individual, could be legitimately compared to the dream of an entity. [...] He correctly but imperfectly recalled a dream during your vacation, in which I was helping him with his health problems.

This had to do with our chat, that he recalls as a dream. [...]

[...] Thus giving the creative inner self the time and opportunity to let the entire physical system accelerate its own healing processes, and to begin again with the initiation of impulses, dreams, and so forth that will help bring a physical improvement about. [...]

There have been several signs of excellent cooperation between portions of the self—as when issues raised or discussed by the Sinful Self then initiated dreams or other psychic behavior in response. [...]

The promise in the dream made by you, that the events (of Jane’s great flexibility)were indeed happening, represented your inner knowledge that he would make it now, and his own realization of the fact, as well as the body’s acknowledgment. The first part of the dream involved excellent physical release and manipulability. [...]

[...] The dreams were meant to encourage him and to show him that the inner order of events does assure his improvements.

The 699th session, in Volume 1, dealt in part with dream images and subjective dream “photographs.” I used Note 1 for that session to insert one of my favorite Jane poems: My Dreaming Self. She wrote it in 1965, a year and a half or so after beginning the Seth material. Now I can add that at the time Jane actually wrote two poems on dreaming; I’ve been saving the second one for use in Volume 2.

[...] She couldn’t identify its source, except to say that she hadn’t been dreaming. [...]

[...] To them the real was the dream life, which contained the highest stimuli, the most focused experience, the most maintained purpose, the most meaningful activity, and the most organized social and cultural behavior. [...]

In some of their own private dreams, many of my readers will have discovered a reality quite as vivid as the normal one, and sometimes more so. [...]

(I also discussed the dream I’d had last month, in which I’d seen the checks out in the parking lot by the front tire of our car. Seth had said then that the dream was legitimate, and that it meant the source of the checks was far away—upstate New York. [...]

[...] Beneath many seemingly chaotic dreams there are often valid experiences in which your consciousness “lights” in another reality, without being attuned to it with the necessary precision that would allow for clear perception. The information cannot be sifted or used effectively and is translated into dream images, as your consciousness returns toward your own home station. [...]

This program spread out and was translated by others in dream states. [...]

[...] Therefore it became much more feasible to approach earthmen during their dream state, when their natural fear reactions were somewhat minimized, and where the danger to the visitors was far less.

Such warnings were either given in the dream state of the earthmen, for the reasons given, or often in some secluded place, for often the visitors would be attacked. [...]

[...] On September 12, Jane had a very vivid dream that she believes was rooted in a past life of hers in Turkey: Her dream involved a little boy, Prince Emir, who lived in a brand-new world in which death hadn’t been invented yet. Over the telephone three days later, Tam suggested that Jane do a children’s book, or one for “readers of all ages,” based on her dream about Emir;² the next day he called again, this time to give her the delightful news that he’d accepted James for publication.

2. I’ll remind the reader that Jane has already received inspiration and material for two books from her amazingly creative dream state: her novel, The Education of Oversoul Seven, and James. While dreaming she tuned into whole chapters of Seven, for instance.

Particularly in warmer climates, man was naturally nocturnal, and did a good deal of his sleeping and dreaming in the daytime.

His latest experiments (with out-of-bodies, dreams, etc.) are excellent, and led him back to himself. For “the writer” ideas, carried to extremes, would even have gobbled the dream work, where both are one.
