(First, though, let me explain an odd development. [...]

[...] There is a disease you read about recently, where the skin turns leathery after intense itching — a fascinating development in which the human body tries to form a leathery-like skin that would, if the experiment continued, be flexible enough for, say, sweat pores and normal locomotion, yet tough enough to protect itself in jungle environments from the bites of many “still more dangerous” insects and snakes.³ Many such experiments appear in certain stages as diseases, since the conditions are obviously not normal physical ones. At deep levels the cells are always working with probabilities, and comparing probable actions and developments in the light of genetic information. [...]

[...] As you go about your life, therefore, you are very effectively taking part in the “future” developments of your species. [...]

[...] The tendencies are used and developed for the good of the overall personality. [...]

(We were interested in a specific location especially in view of Seth’s mentioning people with well-developed abilities. [...]

[...] Death does not automatically bring enlightenment or development. [...]

[...] I had to learn that if I shared a marriage in which my wife had developed a chronic illness, then certain portions of me had also participated in that joint creation. [...]

[...] A book could automatically develop out of the investigation—even, I joked with Jane, a “world-view” book.

Even if those sessions can’t be quoted in these essays because of the obvious space limitations, I can note that Jane and Seth each continued to develop the themes already laid down in the sessions that have been presented. [...]
