(“Copy in the center of the bottom of a paper item.” No matter which side of the envelope object was facing up, there would be copy in the center of the bottom side. [...]

(“Elmira, NY, connected with this copy.” [...] This data would indicate then that while Jane held the envelope “this copy”, including the handstamp, was on the underside.

[...] In the opening notes for Session 855, which was held on May 21, I wrote that a few days earlier we’d received our complimentary copies of the German translation of Seth Speaks. I added that we expected the Dutch translation of the same book to be published later this year, but that we didn’t know just when this would happen — so Jane and I were understandably surprised last Thursday to receive a letter from a reader in Holland, informing us that he’d just purchased a copy of the Dutch edition of Seth Speaks! Now, number one is an attempt to get at number two, which was simply a sign of a copy made, a distorted or doctored copy. The middle one, (three), was a mark made for a much less distorted copy, and the last mark, (five), was for an undoctored record.
