Ruburt is not quite with me this evening because of his condition, and it was this conflict that was sensed by your cat. Ruburt’s condition is improving, however, and there is nothing to worry you here in any important manner, though Ruburt of course is most uncomfortable. [...]

[...] Nevertheless, I suggest that Ruburt rest, and also rest tomorrow, as it will be most beneficial; and I will definitely go into the reasons for his condition.

Incidentally, the book that Ruburt was reading did have something to do with bringing on his condition, and involved a morbid fascination on his part, bringing out many old resentments. [...]

[...] And it seems to you that your money is being used to prolong those conditions.

The money is being achieved or accumulated as a result of your search for the ideal, so it appears twice as ironic to you that the funds for taxes be used to pursue national goals bent, it seems, upon the most gross, shortsightedly practical conditions. [...]

Now: as Ruburt often imagined the worst possibility, and thought that he was being practical in doing so, in terms of his physical condition, gums and all, so you do the same thing in these given areas.

[...] You demand the best circumstances, the proper conditions, and only then will you face yourself.

Raindrop patterns in a puddle follow certain laws having to do with the contours of the land, the weather, the nature of the rain, of the clouds, the height from which the raindrops fall, and the conditions operating in the nearby and far portions of the world. If you could properly understand all of that, then by looking into a single puddle you could tell the past and present weather conditions for the entire planet, and follow the probabilities in terms of storms, or volcanic eruptions. [...] On this level individual dreams help form mass reality, yet also to some extent arise from it in the same way that local weather conditions contribute to world weather conditions, while they are formed by them at the same time.

Make sure, again, that you review portions of the sessions dealing with Ruburt’s condition. [...]

Now each personality has set up conditions for itself, under which it can operate at its best. When these are upset various difficulties show themselves, until the conditions are met again, or until a new system of adequate conditions are settled upon. In Ruburt’s case the conditions mentioned earlier, in our last sessions, operate to his best advantage. Every effort should be made to maintain them, for they will bring about the highest conditions of maturity possible for his personality structure.

Now I have little to say concerning Ruburt’s condition. [...]

Generally speaking, for example, if you are seriously worried about a physical condition, go to a doctor, because your own beliefs may overfrighten you otherwise. Begin with innocuous but annoying physical conditions, however, and try to work those out for yourself. [...] When you have a headache or a simple stomach upset, or if you have a chronic, annoying but not serious condition, such as trouble with your sinuses, or if you have hay fever — in those situations, remind yourself that your body does indeed have the capacity to heal itself.

Your natural athletes, for example, show through their physical expertise certain ideal body conditions. [...]

[...] If many of the conditions we have mentioned in this book are less than ideal in your society, then you can as an individual begin to change those situations. [...]

All of these conditions merge to create the peculiar weather with its innumerable and constant changes. These exterior conditions then affect the individual physical structures and individuals react to the peculiar conditions which they have themselves created.

I want to stress that within each life full free will operates once the conditions of that life are set.

That is, if you have been born in poor or depressed circumstances, then free will will not alter the conditions of that birth.

Such concepts encourage individuals to feel like victims, with no control at all over the conditions of their own lives.
