You are yourself to be quite commended for your behavior and your understanding. And generally for a far fuller range of personality characteristics than you were able to show in far earlier years. The emotions are like musical notes: the more of them you can play the richer your composition (with emphasis)—and your understanding, even when it is not fully conscious, has helped release the range of those emotional characteristics.
