ESP CLASS SESSION, JUNE 22, 1971
TUESDAY

He feels somewhat guilty because he stopped holding his large class at 458 West Water Street, thinking that such a change represented a retreat from an action he should have continued. He stopped when the class became too public, too large—and therefore out-of-keeping with the requirements of his own nature (intently.

[...] Ruburt felt for years that he should (underlined) become a more public person, do workshops, television shows, radio tours or whatever—that he should (underlined) nearly perform miracles in the psychic arena, that he should have a large class, that he should hold as many sessions for others as possible. [...]

[...] She wanted to tell us about class in NYC, etc. [...]

Ruburt’s idea for the future is a good one—seeing those who officiate at such groups (Seth classes). [...]

[...] Ruburt began to concentrate upon them, however, and also feared that the classes might turn into more public endeavors as they became better known—one of the reasons for dropping them.

[...] Ruburt, however, deals well with individuals, as in class; while preserving his privacy he still extended it. [...]

I will make suggestions pertaining to class, but suggestions only. [...] Some kind of relaxed, intimate class framework will be beneficial, but a far smaller class. [...]

[...] You are being changed in this class and through your own experiences in that you are learning and you are expanding your idea of reality and of consciousness. [...]

I have said this often in class: You have been given the most awesome gift of all—the gift to create from your own thoughts and desires. [...]

ESP CLASS SESSION, FEBRUARY 3, 1970

(I explained that in their different ways both Jane’s ESP classes, and the mail, reflect other aspects of public exposure, and that these too must have engendered resistance over the years. [Jane remarked last week to the effect that she wondered how she could get out of answering the mail, for example.] Class had always seemed to offer much, and has helped many people, yet implicit in its very existence was the fact of public exposure concerning unacceptable psychic abilities, in Jane’s eyes, I told her. My idea is that both class and mail have had an unfortunate reinforcing effect over the years as far as the symptoms and their attendant fears go. [...]

(Like class, Jane has often been threatened by the mail, only more overtly, as well as by personal visitors who sought us out. [...]

[...] I will also give some pertinent comments more specifically, involving interviews, television, classes and so forth. [...]

The class tomorrow night might be of benefit because of the focusing of energy, although it is possible that you will encounter him earlier. [...]

[...] Jane outlined the content of this session to her ESP class on Tuesday evening, June 10, and a focusing of energy was tried re Dr Pietra, without result as far as we know.)

[...] After all, we do have money; money also is due from her father’s estate, royalties, Rich Bed eventually, and the sale of paperback rights by Prentice-Hall; ESP class also helps—Jane said she enjoys the class. [...]

[...] In these centers there are certain classes in which instruction is given for the benefit of those who chose to return to the physical environment.

ESP CLASS SESSION, JANUARY 21, 1969
TUESDAY

[...] The parking for class. [...]

The Seth Material hardcover did not financially change the situation that much, but his classes began to bring in money. [...]

When he decided to add to your establishment, his class did pick up, and has. [...]

(Now another event took place in October 1978 that is most important to Jane and me: Sue Watkins received the go-ahead from Tam Mossman to write a book on the ESP classes that Jane had conducted for some seven and a half years, from the fall of 1967 to February 1975. [...] It’s a project that Jane herself never figured she’d do, but wanted done — and Sue, who was a class member, is talented psychically herself, has a newspaper and reporting background, and is ideally qualified for the job.¹ (Conversations, we think, is sure to be published before Mass Events, since Tam is supposed to have Sue’s manuscript in hand by January 1980, for publication in the fall of that year. [...]

1. Jane and I had suggested to Sue last month (September) that she write a book on ESP class, although at various times previously the three of us have discussed such a project. [...]

The apartment house was one thing, a mixture of various classes of people. When you came here (to Pinnacle Road), to a more lucrative kind of middle-class America, Elmira-style, you wondered what people thought, that you were home all the time. [...]

(Jane had remarked the other day that she thought Seth would talk about her reaction to class and the mail—topics discussed in the opening notes for the last session. [...]

[...] The private context was the home, when you had classes. [...]

(In ESP class last night Jane told all of her loyal students, some of whom have been with her almost from the time she began holding such meetings in the summer of 1967, that class was suspended until we’d moved into the hill house and settled down a bit — however long that might take.

Not long after we moved into the hill house (in March) our new acquaintance and next door neighbor to the east, Frank Corio, told us he knows Louise Akins; she was one of the first students to attend Jane’s ESP class, in September 1967. [...]

(The session was witnessed by Virginia and Tom Milligan, both of whom are members of Jane’s ESP class. [...]

(Note that this is the first regular session since February 17, although Seth has given material in ESP class since then. [...]

[...] Bega is learning my material in our own classes, but he must also interpret this, and as I said earlier he tailors it for you, knowing you so well. [...]

[...] For example, Ruburt is doing very well in his classes, enjoys it, and closes his eyes, relatively speaking, to the improvement he has worked in the lives of his students, and to the freedoms he has allowed himself in class in using his abilities. The class before last is a case in point. [...]

(Recently Jane was told that a complete set of class tapes, with transcripts was being offered by someone on the West Coast for around $255.00 for 55 of them—$5.00 or thereabouts a tape. [...] There’s also copyright infringement, since some of the class sessions have been published. [...]

He did very well with his class, not only by holding our session (see the last session, Jane’s first without my presence), but by releasing and vocalizing his deep inner convictions. [...]

[...] Let him—again and again I say this— focus toward his work and classes, and pleasant daily activities, and away from symptoms.
