To paint pictures or write books is only the topmost cover for a life’s purpose, for the paintings or the books contain the purpose, but are not the purpose itself. The meaning is within the paintings, but the paintings are not the meaning.

[...] But like the subject in trance, our plant is aware. Its other abilities lie unused for the time and latent, but they are present.

Your tree builds up a composite of sensations of this sort, sensing not the physical dimensions of a material object, whatever it is, but the vital psychic formation within and about it.

It is the physical materialization of the inner self, but it is not meant to snuff out the inner self. If for example our tree bark grew fearful of the stormy weather and began to harden itself against the elements, in a well-meaning but distorted protective spirit, then the tree would die. [...]

[...] That belief dissolved impediments that lay in your way—even some you did not recognize—attitudes, for example, that you had but did not see were detrimental. You were not driven by fear, but desire, not by doubts but by hope and faith. You did not project failure into the future, but success. [...] But I knew that the suggestions had penetrated as never before, and I thought they had reached their goal in Framework 2 in a way that I could be aware of. The sensation was brief but unmistakable, and very enjoyable. [...]

On the other hand, improvements may be gradual, but steady. The whole point is to trust that they will come, in whatever fashion, but in a reasonable time, without making other qualifications. [...]

[...] Here we have also free will, but a continuity so to speak of purposes. [...] And for Mark’s sake may I say that levels of existence do not necessarily imply higher or lower levels, but concentric levels, even as the layers of the subconscious do not imply upper and lower levels, but are merely terms used for the sake of simplicity.

Since energy cannot be withdrawn but only change its form, then there can be no ending, but only a contraction such as that which I have earlier explained. [...]

[...] It would be backtracking to repeat that long discussion, but as the inner universe has as its attributes spontaneity and durability, and as the spacious present is simultaneous while containing within it all pasts and all presents and all futures, and as Philip understands the meaning of expansion in terms not of time or of space but of value fulfillment, so will he intuitively then grasp that no contradiction occurs with actual reality when I say that there is no beginning and no end.

You are concerned, and have made efforts, but you are better equipped simply because of your personality structure, to make these efforts. She is at this point like a child in the woods, but the potentialities are there for an excellent relationship.

[...] There will always be such points, but your existences that you are aware of, feelings; and that itself is vitality and strength and within the feelings themselves there is creativity and the feelings spur you on. (Leaning forward, speaking intently but half-humorously:) I have memories of being Ruburt — but the Ruburt I was is not the Ruburt that Ruburt is in his reality. [...] You can say then that I am altering my own past, but Ruburt’s present experience also changes my present experience — and so there is an unending interchange.⁵

You must begin any study from your own viewpoint, from your own ledge, but your personal living experience is always the main source of information. Within you as you know yourself are all of the hints you need, if you are but willing to follow them; and these will not destroy the fabric of physical reality, but instead show you more clearly the structure of its miraculous patterns.

[...] You accept, if you were born in 1940, a particular historical sequence: but others born in 1940 (in a different season than your own), are born into a different historical context, a different 1940, with its own probable events. [...] But any given year has its own variations.²

Your individualities never diminished, not only never diminished but gaining in experience. [...]

He is afraid to move (underlined three times)—but he will also be excited. You are also afraid to move, and both of you are wary of fitting yourselves into a new environment, and in a small but significant way, of making a new personal world.

So do not feel that you are powerless, do not feel that you are at the mercy of events, for you form events not only in this reality, but in these other realities which you do not consciously understand. Each move that you make is not multiplied a million times, not simply multiplied, but it reaches out and changes and alters and affects these other realities and it becomes a new action. [...] These meetings occur in this room, but they also occur in other realities, and when you come here to this class you are also attending a class on another level, and you are not aware of those classes, though I am aware of them. [...] Now indeed, not only does each thought have an electrical reality of its own and endures unchanged, but what you consider to be yourself has an electrical reality and is coded in terms that you cannot presently understand. [...] When this occurs no individuality is ever lost, but each of (the) joining consciousnesses are able to participate in greater realities. [...] The inner self is aware, but the conscious self is not aware. It seems to you as you read the session that you are small and tiny, with reality spinning about you that you can neither see nor understand, but this is not the case, for a part of you does know. [...]

[...] The 18th-century drawing room may be next to a 12th-century chapel in this hypothetical museum, but you cannot move through one to the other. [...]

Many of the students are embarrassed by Larry’s behavior, and his piercing laugh, but Ruburt recognizes the energy involved. [...] You were also out-of-body, but do not recall the situation.

[...] Ruburt wants this information, but we will begin slowly.

If you have questions, I shall answer them but all of this is meant to show you that reality is more than you thought reality to be… I am not here as the host of a party. [...]

The physical body, in other words, exists as an electrical body that is not material, that has a peculiar mass but no weight, whose characteristics are apparent in terms of not varying shapes, but varying intensities and concentrations of electric force. [...]

[...] I had no sense of physical pressure upon the bed, but one of suspension. [...]

(Jane did not feel well, but decided to attempt the session anyhow. [...]

This procedure, in which Ruburt sits quietly, is indeed less flamboyant than our previous methods, but it has many advantages, and it is beneficial that we experiment along various lines.
