(I had forgotten this. I’d planned to use our recorder for these sessions, too. “Well, give me some time to plan out what I’d like the sessions to cover, then we’ll see.”)

Now then. It is true that thoughts form reality, but the thoughts are like passengers, riding atop of emotional feelings, or feeling-tones. The feelings obviously help form the thought. On the surface there are many feelings, sometimes highly ambiguous, that rise and fall and often compete for domination.

In the case of individuals such feeling-tones pervade all experiences and perception, and can even therefore alter the perception of reality, therefore effectively changing it. En masse the same story is true. The world as you know it therefore at any given time is pervaded by its own “ground feeling-tone” in quotes, which becomes the medium from which and in which other feelings and ideas emerge.

These are all highly creative, regardless of the apparent effects of what you would call the less desirable ones.

It is the feeling-tone even more than the thoughts that dictate overall activity. The feeling-tone will of itself alter the nature of the thoughts. (Leaning forward for emphasis.) The feeling, rather than the thought of confidence, is what he needs now, and his alpha experiences are leading him in that direction.

What seemed to be a time of most uncomfortable and unhappy circumstance was indeed a re-evaluation and adjustment, most necessary if the personality were to continue to function as a strongly creative effective individual.

On another level she encouraged Ruburt in his own development. As Ruburt knows she was a Christian Scientist and a reader. Both grandmothers, while seeming so different, were more than usually concerned with the nature of the soul, and their idea of what religion was.

(Class had been discussing dream realities, personality, etc., for about an hour; Pat and Sheila began talking back and forth on Sheila’s ideas on separate personalities, when Jane interrupted to say that she had the impression that the “hole in the universe” had opened up in Dr. Sam Levine’s house next-door and a crowd of people were flying from it into the room. She added that she thought their teacher was standing at the table by the windows. We went into Alpha to see what we could get—most of us had that impression of other: in the room—and Jane got the words to a chant, which she wrote down. As she started to read this chant to us, she suddenly threw her head back and wailed the words in an extremely loud voice; she then remained in trance for five minutes or so, and began to speak in a liquid, near-whisper:

(“It is with this always we began and we begin our classes. It is with this chant always that we begin our endeavors in our space; it is not your own, and only a translation, for we do not use verbal communication. It is always with the facsimile of what we have heard that we begin our work, and in many guises and in many ways you are acquainted with our activities. I have always been here in your terms as you have always been in other places and other times, and there is a great familiarity and wonder on our part that you are still involved in these endeavors which were begun in your terms so many centuries ago, and in ways that you cannot now presently comprehend. And yet you are even familiar with what comes out as what appears as my voice in your own traits and your own translations. There are cities that we have built that you have helped us build; there are wonders here, wonders in your own reality that we helped build in other sizes in your time. We have been here many times, and you have been where we are.

(“And I am Sumari in another guise. And all of you have your guises and your masks that you wear and have worn. I am Sumari in another guise. And all of these guises are myself, and all of your guises are yourselves. And as I dwell in many realities, so dwell you in many realities. You will learn to become aware of these; you are learning. I am aware of all your activities. I am aware, for example, of your Seth and of your Seth II. We are all Sumari. Now we are appearing more clearly in terms that you can understand. But we are all Sumari, and if you are all Sumari, and never forget that you are all Sumari, and you have always been Sumari. It is the name of your family.”
