Now then. It is true that thoughts form reality, but the thoughts are like passengers, riding atop of emotional feelings, or feeling-tones. The feelings obviously help form the thought. On the surface there are many feelings, sometimes highly ambiguous, that rise and fall and often compete for domination.

Far beneath however, at any given time in your terms, there is a dominant, characteristic, unique feeling-tone that pervades the personality and colors all of the other activities, feelings and thoughts. There is also a rhythm at this level however, and such a basic feeling-tone will also of itself change into another. Feelings and thoughts exist in the ground of the basic feeling-tone.

In a large sense different basic feeling-tones can dominate various incarnations. It must be understood that these are not static, however. These are reflected in every area physically and en masse, from the kind of thoughts entertained to the type of architecture chosen, say, by a people, and the general state of mental and physical health.

It is the feeling-tone even more than the thoughts that dictate overall activity. The feeling-tone will of itself alter the nature of the thoughts. (Leaning forward for emphasis.) The feeling, rather than the thought of confidence, is what he needs now, and his alpha experiences are leading him in that direction.

These are obviously not the only issues involved. They were simply trigger points. At the same time he had not found himself yet where he wanted to go with his own career. He never thought of himself beyond the age of 30. In his dreams by then he would be a well-known writer, and that was the glorious end of the tale.

(10:02. Jane’s trance had been good. I was finding the session very revealing. Since it dealt with parents, I brought up a thought I’d been entertaining, although I told Jane I wasn’t sure it was such a good idea after all.

(Her father, Del, had died on November 16, at 7:30 AM, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Midge, Del’s wife, called Jane later that morning, and Jane in turn called me at work. There isn’t anything we can do, particularly, beyond the few letters Jane wrote. During break I explained to Jane that she might like Seth to say something about Del; by this I meant his experiences after death. (Class had been discussing dream realities, personality, etc., for about an hour; Pat and Sheila began talking back and forth on Sheila’s ideas on separate personalities, when Jane interrupted to say that she had the impression that the “hole in the universe” had opened up in Dr. Sam Levine’s house next-door and a crowd of people were flying from it into the room. She added that she thought their teacher was standing at the table by the windows. We went into Alpha to see what we could get—most of us had that impression of other: in the room—and Jane got the words to a chant, which she wrote down. As she started to read this chant to us, she suddenly threw her head back and wailed the words in an extremely loud voice; she then remained in trance for five minutes or so, and began to speak in a liquid, near-whisper:
