Now this does have personality characteristics in terms of consciousness and intent. Very positive ones, initially set into motion by Ruburt’s desire to help others, and attempts to do so. This is a form built up by him unconsciously in a realm other than the physical, and it is gaining in strength and expertise.

This is accumulative, you see. This sort of phenomena occurs in one way or another with those who have the capacity to draw upon great energies, but the manifestation, you see, can be beneficial or detrimental.

To that extent it was consistent. It was not driven however by intent. In one way both personalities were accidental, in that Ruburt did not consciously (underlined) form either. In deeper terms however it was a creature of default, of frustration, and lack-of. (Seth’s punctuation.)

(Since August, when this session was held, it seems that little if anything has developed re Jane’s helper. The ideas seem to be very good ones, and I remember that when the session was held we had high hopes. For one reason or another—or several—they have been set aside; finishing Seth’s book contributed of course. It’s educational to type up this material after such a long interval—but also somewhat discouraging, I’m afraid. I do not hear Jane mention the concept of the helper very often. The term will crop up when she has some kind of related psychic experience occasionally, but that seems to be all. Resume at 9:50)

You end up with the casting-out of devils, which can be of great benefit, incidentally, if (underlined) the sufferer happens to believe (underlined) he is possessed by one.

At one time therefore Ruburt’s fears greatly overbalanced his hopes. Feelings of desolation outbalanced feelings of joy. In a concentrated form in this other realm, this self-image was reflected. Following the laws of attraction, it drew to it other such realities.

Now. You are on the threshold of forming your own helper. You helped Ruburt in both of his creations. (Leaning forward intently:) These helpers are simply possessed of a different kind of consciousness than your own. In one way they are formed from you, but considerable work of one kind or another is done often before they are released, and set free to work within these other realms for you.

In one way they are automatic offshoots or products, except that once created, because of their nature and their nonphysical environment, their abilities far surpass your own in terms of acceleration. Is that clear?

The black thing could be called a shadow image. The dark side of the personality gaining dominance for a time. The helper represents the strongest, most creative aspects of personality, gaining greatly in ascendancy. In between you see the image is much the same as the one shown by the normal personality—the weaknesses and strengths balancing out.
