(This concerns my recent suggestions to Jane that she concentrate upon the beauty and pleasure of the moment; even when she is performing a difficult task, or finds herself brooding, etc. At the same time I want her to realize that her body is perfectly capable of taking care of itself, of healing itself, if she will but leave it alone so that it is free to do so.
(In other words, when I tell her to live in the pleasurable aspects of a moment, I don’t mean for her to use this as a method of sweeping unpleasantness under the rug, etc.)

(10:45. This proved to be the end of the session. I suggested to Jane that she train herself to focus upon external objects while doing things like getting up and down, that had bothered her. I thought this might be a convenient way of diverting her thoughts, rather than depending on purely mental efforts; at times she might feel particularly like concentrating upon inner images, etc.)
