(Witnesses were Peter Murtough, who arrived Monday, July 24, from Chula Vista, CA, and Bill and Peggy Gallagher. No session was held Monday evening.

(Tonight’s session was recorded. Just as she went into trance, Jane leaned forward to switch on the recorder, and had a little difficulty.)

[... 2 paragraphs ...]

Before Ruburt had the opportunity to turn your machine on, I was here and it was left to me to flip the switch.

(Seth, much amused, leaned toward Pete. Jane’s eyes opened often; her voice was a bit stronger than average.)

[... 13 paragraphs ...]

(Seth’s manner in speaking to Pete was, on the overall, quite restrained and serious, and the difference from his usual manner was quite obvious to the Gallaghers and myself. Jane resumed in the same manner at 9:24.)

[... 6 paragraphs ...]

(A puzzled gesture.) There is something connected with the town that has to do with the word west. Perhaps the Spanish word meaning west was in the town’s name. I do not know, but the connection is there. (Pause, eyes closed.)

Now. I did not tell you that Ferd was a figment of your imagination, for he is not.

I did not tell you that Ferd was merely a fabrication of the subconscious, for he is not. I have told you that you are a novice in an exciting and exacting program and I have asked you to ponder the implications of this situation.

(“What country is the relative in?” This was my own question, unrelated to Bill’s, however.)

The other relative is in Australia. Give us a moment please. (Pause.) There was a relationship existing between our young friend and the personality known as Ferd back in the Polish existence. They were then contemporaries.

Ferd was a soldier, I believe. An involvement in a Balkan military affair that was not a full-scale war. A military engagement.

(Again Bill was passing a note to me: What city? Who was leader of army? As far as I can recall, he has never passed such notes before during a session.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

We shall see. (Pause.) Death in a mine explosion. Our young friend, in many of his lives, has been involved in traveling, living in a country in which he was not originally a native.

[... 1 paragraph ...]

(This question was inspired by Bill’s note re city, country, territory, etc. I was somewhat reluctant to ask it. The first question on this theme, in which Seth answered Australia, was my own idea.)

[... 1 paragraph ...]

Now. There was a large family from which this relative came. I believe he was the third born to the family. A connection here with the letter J, with a 1936 date, and something which I do not understand—a connection with an upside-down umbrella, that may represent a symbol, a coat of arms, a sign on a shop door, I have no idea.

(At break, the Gallaghers left. Jane told us that my questions had irritated her greatly. They had interrupted her train of impressions, in which she was casting about freely, and she had felt she was on the verge of a projection that could have been most instructive. The questions re details snapped her back unpleasantly, she said, and were very irritating. The feeling of projection flew away at once.

(The recording of the session was very successful.)
