This should be perfectly all right. Ruburt should not visit his mother however, nor waste any time wondering about the matter.

They are the ghost, you see. Perhaps I did not put myself clearly. (In the last session.) They are vanishing, in that they no longer have the power to frighten him in the same way that his physical symptoms had in the past. He can see, even in them, his way out of them. Physically speaking in your terms, they will be largely, and I mean largely, minimized as these actions of yours break up the cues. This week and next, in other words, if you follow your plans.

They are being squeezed into a smaller and smaller portion of his life. Do you see?

The personality holds its own after each improvement, you see, and then makes further ones. This does not mean the process could not be quicker. There has been an improvement today in the left arm. This represented a mental decision, finally made, to use this week to work on his book.

The left arm is in the position of having held its own now, and now starting toward physical improvement. Barriers are now falling away. The rubble is being cleared, you see. This week could have been a bad one. Ruburt learned however from his experience and has taken steps so that it will now add to his recovery. This represents a considerable step forward.

Often he wanted you to approach him in intimate terms, but felt unworthy because of his condition, and because he felt that you found it distasteful, and even degrading. This set up conflict on going to bed, you see.

He knew this, this being fairly natural, but he exaggerated your feeling, you see, because of his mental attitude, and felt he would be asking for alms.
