You are midway here. In the future the ego and the intellect will expand sufficiently so that they can contain and use and appreciate all the other functions and portions of the self which they now mistrust. Individual identity will then expand to include a greater variety of impulses and stimuli, which do not necessarily come from the self, and yet maintain specialized identity.

The size of the brain has little to do with any of this beyond a certain point. The number of electrical connections are important however, and even old portions of the brain are affected by them. The old portions of the brain are not the same as they were. Physical examination of them only discloses their condition in the present. The growth of the cortex greatly affected the more primitive portions.

Do you have a test for me?

Five. An afternoon. The color yellow. An unusual circumstance. Something to do with two people who have a dog.

(Once again Jane considered the test a failure, and attributed it to her being upset today. As it developed we did not ask Seth for specific information on the impressions, so I do not know whether they were merely too far-ranging for our purposes, or simply errors. I saw possible connections with a few of them, and will note them for the record.

I do have a few suggestions, though Ruburt may not particularly approve of them.

I will no longer ask you if you have a test. You will simply at your leisure hand me a test when you have one for me, at any time in the session. You may, in other words, interrupt. Do not tell Ruburt the results of the test immediately.
