“Seth material” search engine (Jane Roberts)

(For the envelope test this evening I chose a piece of an old furniture label that Jane and I had peeled from the back of a bureau a couple of weeks ago. See the tracing above. I found the label, or rather part of it, in my studio this afternoon and decided to use it for the test. Since it was lying unobtrusively among my things on a shelf I thought Jane had not been aware of it. She later confirmed this, saying she thought I had thrown it out at the time we removed it.

These systems are affected by the weather, and they also affect the weather. There is a constant inflow and outflow. The dream, any dream, fits neatly within certain and definite electromagnetic boundaries, and at the same time helps to form the electromagnetic field itself.

The pet also sensed Ruburt’s own upset when he was, when Ruburt was, worried, and this also contributed. The cat is generally in good health. You are also both in good health at this time. And you, Joseph , should escape your December doldrums this year, and I thoroughly expect that you shall.

(Jane, as Seth, smiled as she referred to Dr. Instream. Jane does know the suspected cat food, which is a combination of liver and fish. The worry referred to above concerns Jane’s interest in her ESP book; it took her publisher some time to let her know he was reading it, and as seen in the 195th session Jane finally telephoned the publisher to get the final okay on the book. Many sessions ago, as many as a hundred or more, Seth told us that animal pets would reflect the psychic health and concerns of their owners.

Returning to a previous discussion, I would like to make it plain once more that dream images are not pseudorealities. They exist as fact, though in a different dimension from physical reality. Again, no one would deny the reality of psychological experience when it is felt by the waking personality. Yet such experience also does not have a physical reality, to the same degree that a definite physical object has.

It should be emphasized however that dream experiences can have a more lasting and vital effect upon the personality than many so-called physical experiences, for the dream experiences are not blocked nearly as much as waking experience is blocked. The suggestion that also occurs within the dream state works even more effectively upon the whole personality than any suggestion works under ordinary circumstances. And dreams certainly do contain suggestions, and they are reacted to by the personality, not only on a subconscious basis and a psychological basis, but they affect the whole system.

(As usual when giving the Dr. Instream material, Jane spoke at a slower pace. By now however the pace was not as slow as it had been during the first few such tests. I will indicate a few pauses and some strategic times. Jane resumed while sitting down and with her eyes closed, and in an average voice, at 10:05.)

Someone says, a male: “I’ll go along with you on that, George.” And I hear someone laugh, this time I think a woman. (Pause at 10:15.)

(My score would seem to be above chance. I did not seem to pick up impressions about the ad itself, however. I seemed to pick up impressions of Bill at the newspaper office, and follow him as he went about his chores. I had no idea at the time that any of my impressions were correct. Indeed I suspected that they were all wrong. I seem to work with words rather than images, that is, I pick up word impressions, I guess, rather than pictures.

(Correct. Bill spoke about the “sunny climes” in particular in contrast to our autumn weather, as he intends to go to Puerto Rico for his vacation and the discussion had to do with the differences in weather this time of year.
