(Seth promised to keep his voice quiet, which he did throughout the session. Jane sat with her eyes closed for the most part. Specifically Seth asked that none of us take notes, and I was happy to agree. Thus the first half of this session is summarized from memory, with no particular effort made to remember every point covered. I will try to recall just enough to lead into the second half of the session, which I recorded verbatim in my homemade shorthand.

(Bill was by now so interested that both he and I began to take verbatim notes when Seth resumed, since Bill planned to go diving Sunday. The hour was already late. Jane spoke while sitting down. Her eyes opened occasionally, her voice remained quiet. She smoked. She resumed at 12:55.)

(As she talked, Jane used many gestures. She seemed to try to supplement her verbal descriptions by outlining objects with her hands, as though she was seeing things somewhat difficult to put into words specifically enough. This applied particularly when she was trying to voice descriptions of the geography of the lake bottom. Her pace was comfortably fast.)

(Break at 1:15. Jane was well dissociated, she said. Her voice had remained quiet, her pace had been good. Bill Gallagher was quite excited. Both he and Peggy verified Seth’s information about the changes in silting on the lake bottom; Jane was highly gratified to learn that Seth was correct. As far as I know neither Jane or I have come across such specific information; certainly we have never discussed it with the Gallaghers.
