(Jane was upset about her work this evening, so much so in fact that she would have missed the session had I not been too lazy to go dancing. It was a bitterly cold and windy night. While we were discussing our problems 9 PM arrived, so we held the session.
(Jane spoke at a fairly normal rate, in a voice that was for the most part quite strong and loud. She sat down, and her eyes were closed. She was also smoking during the first part of the session. She actually began speaking at 9:02.)

(Break at 9:24. Jane was well dissociated. She said the time had gone so fast it appeared that only two or three minutes had elapsed. She resumed in the same rather strong manner at 9:34.)

(Break at 10:00. Jane was well dissociated, and still amazed now at the rapid passage of time during her delivery. She resumed in the same strong manner at 10:13.)

(Just as our wall clock indicated 10:30 PM, an unfortunate thing happened. Our cat Willy had several times jumped up on Jane’s lap as she spoke. Since this disturbed Jane’s trance state to some extent, I had been trying to keep him away from her.
(Willy now jumped up once more. Reaching for him to make him move, I grabbed his tail and at the same time nearly lost my balance. I pulled Willy backward. He came loose, but at the same time his claws came out in a reflex action. I heard them scrape across Jane’s lap. Jane’s eyes snapped open and she cried out. It was evident that the cat had scratched her through her dress. Jane clearly did not know what had happened exactly; she appeared to be dazed. I said nothing, not wanting to pull her out of her state any more abruptly. I was then surprised to see her sit quietly, finally close her eyes, and go back into her full state. If Willy’s scratches hurt she gave no sign. Indeed, Jane smiled as she began speaking again. Resume at 10:31.)

(End at 10:35. Jane was well dissociated, as before. She did remember something scratching her, and it developed that Willy had drawn a few spots of blood.
(I have just finished an oil painting of two heads, male; one of the characters appealed greatly to Jane, and had since the beginning. I had not given it much thought, beyond wondering where I had gotten the idea for the painting to begin with. I had taken it somewhat for granted that the faces I painted were the result of some kind of telepathic information or subconscious memory. In the past Seth has stated that I often use these sources of information for my portraits. The head Jane likes is of a blond man, quite heavyset and evidently of a massive build. The features are rather regular, although the nose is somewhat prominent, the jaw square, the eyes blue. Jane does not care much for the other head in the painting, although as I worked on the picture I was as much intrigued by this head as by the other.
(I have been keeping a record of my dreams for several weeks now, emulating Jane’s example. It is a fascinating experience, and already appears to have borne some small fruits as far as clairvoyance is concerned, and self-understanding. Lately the dreams have featured a lot of aggressive action on my part, and it had been my own idea also that this aggressiveness released was a good thing.
(The particular dream Seth refers to on page 270 concerned one I had on the night of Sunday, February 21. In it a man received news of his wife’s death via his inner senses, by which he sees her apparition appear before him as she dies many miles away. The apparition I saw in the dream was not of Jane, but still the dream was very vivid, and somewhat upsetting. I believe it has elements of clairvoyance, and that possibly I disguised the identity of the apparition I saw in the dream.)
