(The day after the last session Jane realized that she had burned herself on the back of her right leg, just above the heel. While it was not overly severe, the burn was deep enough to have formed a scar; yet she could not recall when she had been burned. She later realized she had done it during the last session.
(During sessions now, Jane sits in our rocker across from my writing table. She usually faces our big bay window. Beneath the window is a heater, covered by a metal window seat. At times this “seat” becomes too hot to touch. At times also, Jane sits with her feet propped up on this seat while dictating. Checking, she discovered that while in her usual position with her feet up, the burn coincided exactly with the edge of the seat. I had wondered at times about the seat becoming too hot, but had taken it for granted that Jane automatically lowered her feet when it became too warm. Evidently she had neglected to do so, at least once, yet had felt no pain. I would also remember had the session been interrupted by her. Both of us have speculated about whether she is less sensitive to pain while in her trance state.
(Jane’s voice was quite dry tonight, and it remained so when she began dictating. The hoarseness gradually cleared up as the material unfolded, however. She spoke at a rather steady rate, with some pauses, and with her eyes closed.

(There came a knock upon the door. At times I had wondered how Jane would react to an interruption while in her new and deeper state. I now had at least one answer: Her body jumped in her chair, and her eyes popped open as though from shock. For a moment she appeared to be disoriented. Then she answered my query to the effect that she was all right.
(Bill Macdonnel, who has witnessed several sessions, was at the door. He remained for the balance of the session. Jane had thought Seth would continue the interruption as our first break, but shortly she announced he wanted to continue. When she resumed her voice was abruptly quite a bit deeper and stronger, and it remained so for the balance of the session. Resume at 9:17.)

(Break at 9:26. Jane reported that she was well dissociated to begin the session, and even more so after Bill’s arrival. She resumed in the same deeper and louder manner at 9:35.)

(Break at 9:55. Jane was again well dissociated. She resumed in her heavier voice again at 10:05.)

(End at 10:25. Jane was fully dissociated, she said. Miss Callahan is an elderly retired teacher who lives in the front apartment of our second floor here. Oddly enough, she had her first stroke almost exactly a year ago—February 17,1964. Since her illness then, Seth has dealt with her to varying degrees on February 17, as well as in the 29th, 31st, 33rd, 44th, 46th, 54th, and 56th sessions, among others. Jane has also had clairvoyant dreams involving Miss Callahan.
(After leaving the hospital, Miss C returned home, to live with a housekeeper. Miss C, preferring to be alone, finally let the housekeeper go a few weeks ago. She has been quite weak since the onset of her illness, and lately has looked weaker since doing everything for herself. Jane visits her rather often just to keep an eye on her. Miss C’s memory is very poor now, and evidently her energy is low also. She is extremely thin.
