(This session was unplanned. Bill Macdonnel, who has witnessed several sessions and has been involved in some of the effects obtained during sessions, was visiting us. He did not feel well, and I was quite lethargic. Jane was restless however, so we began to try various small ESP experiments. We tried for physical effects without success. After an hour or so of this, Jane decided to call on Seth. I brought out my notebook.
(Jane sat down at about 10:30. One light was on in the living room but this bothered her, even though she sat with her back to it. I turned this light off then and turned one on in the kitchen; this cast an indirect light into the living room, enough for me to see to write.
(But this light also bothered Jane, to such an extent that within a few minutes she switched it off. This left the room lit spasmodically by the lights from passing traffic. We waited in the dark room. Jane finally began to speak, rather rapidly, and in a voice a little heavier than usual. At the same time she rose and began to pace slowly about.

(Jane now sat down. Her chair was against a wall, and out of the direct line of reflected traffic lights, although I could see shadows pass across the white blur of her face. Again, I could not distinguish her features.)

(We sat quietly for perhaps one minute. I observed no change in or about Jane. Bill said nothing. Jane then spoke.)

(For some little time longer we waited without observing any change relating to Jane. Our cat Willy moved about the dark apartment in a normal manner, apparently not sensing anything strange to him. Jane finally switched on a light, saying that Seth was gone.

(I had thought Seth would stay, to say something about why results had not been good, but Jane said the session was over. She was not nearly as dissociated as usual. She had felt “weird” at finding herself pacing again during delivery, when she had just become used to speaking while being seated. End at approximately 11:00.
(See the 68th session for the change in Jane’s features, witnessed by Bill and me. See the 102nd session for Bill’s cognition of open eyes upon Jane’s closed eyelids. It will be noted that the 102nd session was also unscheduled, and that it dealt with the subject of obtaining physical effects.)
