She’s just as enthusiastic over having organized the rest of her God of Jane. She finished Chapter 17 today, and wrote in her journal after supper: “Very very very good on Chapter 17—oodles of new insights! Pleased!” She envisions at least another half dozen chapters for the book, but at the same time she’s leaving final decisions up to her creative self. And her book of poetry, If We Live Again, hovers in the background of her consciousness. She’s done little with it since late February. The self that you are aware of represents only one “position” in which those invisible particles happen to intersect, gain mass, build up form. Scientists can only perceive an electron as it is to them. They cannot really track it. They cannot be certain of its position and its speed at the same time, and to some extent the same applies to your consciousness. The speed of your own thoughts takes those thoughts away from you even as you think them—and you can never really examine a thought, but only the thought of a thought (with quiet amusement).
