(At 9:19 Jane, As Seth, pointed at the floor, her eyes closed. Music from the apartment below us had begun to blare out loudly; loud enough so I could distinguish the words to the dance tunes. I was disturbed and almost went to the phone. I did not because Seth was making an effort to give information on Jane’s back symptom, and thought this more important.

(9:45. Jane’s trance had been a good one. She said the music when it started really bothered her, although she didn’t leave the trance state. Jane said that when Seth deepened the trance it was as though the music was turned off. In actuality the music was still blaring away from below.

(11:13. Jane’s trance was again deep. The music had started blaring out again from downstairs.)

[...] He wanted to “awaken” and record the experience, so he had the radio blare until [it] waked him. [...]

[...] With music blaring from all the walls and no one said, “Turn off the music, for the neighbors will be worried.” [...]

[...] He also liked to have the radio blaring as a gesture of defiance and freedom, and within limitations, this would be an aid when the windows are opened. [...]

[...] Now rock music began to blare out from one of the apartments below us. [...]

[...] Jane left trance as usual, though she said she still had the feeling that the voice could really blare. [...]

(Loud music was blaring up now from the apartment below us.)

[...] The bandstand was at the end of the dance floor, and when the trumpet blared the noise was deafening. [...]

(Two automobiles equipped with blaring sirens sped past our apartment house, but Jane didn’t seem to be disturbed. [...]

(An ambulance then came across the Walnut Street bridge, siren blaring. [...]

[...] The room was small and crowded, the tables were all full, and the band blared. [...]

[...] Then I realized that a transistor radio was blaring from the bedside table. [...]
