(Yesterday morning I took a call from Nancy Overton and Saul Cohen, who evidently will have the job of shepherding Jane’s work through Prentice-Hall, now that Tam has left. [...]

[...] She wants to check the next five chapters before sending them to Tam, who will send them to SC when he edits them, but she hasn’t done any work on them recently. [...]

[...] They are ideals set in the heart of man,⁵ yet in other terms he is the one who also put them there, out of the deeper knowledge of his being that straddles physical time. [...]

Every so often Jane hears from a female reader who wants to know why Seth often uses the male gender in his books, especially in passages like those in tonight’s 696th session. [...]

(This evening’s session will see the first of three scheduled attempts for Seth to clairvoyantly tune in on our friends, Bill and Peggy Gallagher, who arrived in Puerto Rico on vacation yesterday, Sunday. [...]

(Seth continued:) He also began to see two poles in society one highly conventional and closed, in which he would appear as a charlatan; and another, yearning but gullible, willing to believe anything if only it offered hope, in which his activities would be misinterpreted, and to him [would be] fraudulent … There was a middle ground that he would have to make for himself … to make a bridge to those intellectuals who doubted, and yet maintain some freedom and spontaneity in order to reach those at the other end. (On June 5, 1968 John Pitre telephoned Jane from Franklin, LA, seeking answers to three questions: the reasons for John’s uneasiness concerning his wife Peg last week; the reasons for the loss of leg feeling John experiences in hot weather; and data on a pilot, Albert Blevins, who vanished on a flight in a small plane near the Gulf Coast about four years ago, presumably near Franklin.

[...] As words would give small hint of the reality of color or sound to someone who did not experience these, so words can only give insight into the nature of reality. [...]

[...] If Seth wasn’t speaking, who was?

The transition from Seth’s deep voice and lively gestures was very startling to Phil, who hadn’t heard the other personality speak before. [...]

[...] He did not say who would publish them, and I did not ask. [...]

[...] Seth said there was no cause for surprise here, that young people are intuitively aware of much more than one gives them credit for, and that when Jane and I meet young people who express interest we should help them by recommending books, giving our own ideas, etc.

[...] I then came awake and described the effect to Jane, who had not yet fallen asleep.”

[...] I do not know the people who operate John’s Bargain Store, but neither do I know many other of Artistic’s clients. [...]

[...] And the same tree will recognize the same man who passes it by each day. [...]

(Tonight then, Jane manifested three different voices while in trance: the regular Seth voice, somewhat strong, very clear and concise, the one we are so used to; next the light and lilting voice with Jane’s own mannerisms overlying Seth who hovers just below; and finally the muffled, masculine old man’s voice, so different from any produced before this.)

You may have a dangerous drug or alcohol problem, or you may be married to someone who does. [...]
