In many cases it is the family, rather than the incapacitated member, who questions and does not understand — as in cases of severely mentally retarded children, for example. [...]

(The material given above, aside from the specific points verified by me, is typical of possible situations involving my parents and the Martins, who were good friends in those days. I saw many similar situations evolve and resolve themselves, involving my parents, the Martins, and a few other couples who moved in the same circle.

Now in projections you meet individuals as you do in physical life, and make friends who are interested in your welfare. [...]

This means of course that deeply felt hope must be sardonically examined, that deeply buried faith must be stated with parried thrusts, and to that extent the paper speaks for a concentrated portion of your population so that our Jim Poett, who is a poet at heart, must appear in the slightly worn cloak of the skeptic. I think it very likely that aborted fetuses and those infants who die early in “life” — say within a few months after birth, especially — never intended to stay long within camouflage (physical) reality to begin with; the consciousnesses within those small human structures came just to momentarily sample our world of matter, whether from inside the womb or out of it. [WHO won’t officially declare smallpox done away with for a year or so, while waiting to see if any new cases surface.] Or would smallpox appear again, say 10 years from now? [...]

You are a you who has a consciousness and you can use this consciousness as you will. [...] You are a self who is conscious and has a consciousness. Now I want all of you, including my friend here (Rob) to contemplate the part of you who has this consciousness to use. [...]
