Now, I do indeed have a few words to say, concerning this last episode.

The additional motion you have seen arises naturally as the seasons do, and will bring a growing sense of ease.

I could write many windy pages about the mysteries of life, I suppose, and how each of us does the best we can, although often we may not understand what we’re doing; but what I really want to do is simply note that in her case, fortunately, and even if she may think she’s failed in certain major areas of life, Jane has achieved some remarkable insights into her own situation (as I have into mine, being her marriage partner). She’s managed to do this with the help of various portions of her own personality, the Seth material, and me. [...] You are learning how to form reality from your own beliefs, while having at the same time the freedom to choose those beliefs—to chose your mental state in a way that the animals, for example, do not. [...]

[...] I thought this might be relatively easy for her to do, since she’s often voiced her suspicion that she’s one of those born “lefties” who at a very early age were forced to begin writing with their right hand. She has yet to do anything about my suggestion. (I spoke from my own related experience, since as a native right-hander I taught myself to print with my left hand just to see if I could do it. Now I always do crossword puzzles that way.)

It’s impossible to present here all of Jane’s own material on her sinful self—much as I’d like to—but shortly I do want to give portions of the first few pages to show readers how experiences from one’s very early years can sometimes have the most profound effects in later life. As will be seen, that material obviously raises as many questions as it answers, but right now we can do little more than touch upon the whole affair. [...]

Now: as Ruburt often imagined the worst possibility, and thought that he was being practical in doing so, in terms of his physical condition, gums and all, so you do the same thing in these given areas.

Again, I do not mean to deny the validity of that experience, but to point out its specialized nature. [...] From your viewpoint it seems often that dreams are not events, or that they happen but do not happen. [...] Nor can you remember dream events — or so it seems — as you do your normal conscious experience. [...]

Raindrop patterns in a puddle follow certain laws having to do with the contours of the land, the weather, the nature of the rain, of the clouds, the height from which the raindrops fall, and the conditions operating in the nearby and far portions of the world. [...] You cannot do this, of course, yet it is possible.

[...] So these “alien intrusions” do the same, and the dreams are like the raindrops, for at other “higher” levels they may have quite a different form indeed.

(Ever since she began dictating Mass Events for Seth, Jane has felt like having book sessions but once a week — on Monday nights — and doing other things in between. So she’s been working on her own James, writing poetry, painting, and helping me out with Seth’s Psyche by doing some of the work I usually do when he’s finished a book: typing sessions for the manuscript, checking my rough notes, rewriting some of them and making suggestions about others. [...] You cannot see your thoughts, so you do not realize that they have shape and form, even as, say, clouds do. [...]

[...] The atoms and molecules within those chairs and couches are quite alert, though you do not grant them the quality of life. [...] In that game they enjoy the motion of their bodies, but they do not identify with those swirling circles. [...]

Your ears certainly seem to be permanent appendages, and so do your eyes. [...]

Perhaps your holidays take more out of you than I do.

Two of these statements may appear at first glance to contradict themselves, but you shall shortly see that they do not, and you are left for now with a pretty question: for does the self, or identity, then form the perceptive dimension in which it exists, or is it created by the dimension?

[...] You believe in your ideas of time, and depend upon them to such a degree that it is impossible at this stage for you to conceive of a concept that has nothing to do with space or time.

[...] Nevertheless, at least you do remember to some degree. [...]

The outer senses do not deal with direct perception of reality. [...]

You do not even perceive camouflage reality with your outer senses with any dependability. [...]

Since he does not use his unconscious knowledge of your work in daily life, and since you do not talk of it often, then he searches your face to see how you may have done. [...]

To the effect that you do want him to succeed, that his success will help you both. [...]

If Ruburt misses sessions and then feels guilty about doing so, little is gained and the regularity is also lost. [...]

[...] Such contact therefore would always take place beneath so-called normal perception, and even then you would have to translate this inner perception, as you do any into terms you could understand as physical creatures.

These are not to be thought of as colored pictures however, for neither do they use that kind of imagery, and yet a high degree of preciseness is communicated. [...]

[...] He has been doing his own kind of energy exercises, involving the particular “sore” (the ulcer on her coccyx; it’s slowly closing), but I suggest that he does one of those exercises faithfully every day, and that both of you simply see the area healed. You do not understand what true womanhood or true manhood is. [...]

[...] Given Seth’s concept of simultaneous time, the best connection I’ve made so far between the two soldiers is that as counterparts of mine they explore questions having to do with authority. As I rebel against authority now — a characteristic remarked upon by Seth in the 721st session — so do my Roman selves in their times.

[...] If so, do we do this frequently, so that our private fantasies have an inner coherence with those of our fellow human beings — and connections with them — that quite escapes our usual notice?

[...] So now, what do I make of the considerable similarities between my Jerusalem episode and Peter’s? [...] Just as I do, Peter rebels in his own peaceful ways against conventional authority, preferring to go his individual route in the arts, no matter how dubious his rewards may be.

You do indeed give them energy, as they also give you energy. [...] You do create it, but it is also to some degree independent of you. As your ego experiences changes in its relationship with the physical world, so do you change aspects of the dream world accordingly, and enrich it.

[...] They do exist, even though they do not exist in space as you know it, and certainly they do not take up space in the skull. [...]

[...] Such realities do not bow to the artificial time measurements which so often limit you in daily life.

Just because your attention is no longer focused upon such realities, this does not mean that they do not continue to exist.
