[...] Seth also dealt rather extensively with the conflict between Jane and the director of the Arnot in the following sessions: 74, 75, 77, 79, 82, 84 and 85. All of Seth’s material on the situation has worked out. [...]

[...] Jane learned little about their trip other than that the Gallaghers took many notes to use in checking against Seth’s notes; and that Bill found himself involved in a “strange experience” with a piano player and what he thought was telepathy. [...]

(Seth began discussing the inner senses in the 20th session; by the 50th session he had gone into some detail on nine of them, with more to come. [...]

[...] I suggested that she do so, and that we ask Seth to comment on the moving prospects. [...] “I do sort of feel Seth around,” Jane said a little later. [...]

(Jane’s Seth voice was good.)

(“Good afternoon, Seth.”)

[...] His body is not making all of these improvements for nothing (a good point, I thought in answer to Seth’s rather dry humor). [...]

(I’d just finished typing the last few pages for Monday night’s session, and I asked Jane what she thought of my final note: I’d speculated about any reincarnational connections that might tie her abilities to speak for Seth, without help of any modern kind, to the abilities ancient man had displayed, when, according to Seth, he’d been able to carry all of his history with him mentally. As ancient man had lived without the news media we’re so used to, so does Jane speak for Seth without all of that modern help. I hadn’t expected Seth to go into related material this evening.)

[...] Indeed, in some of her earliest poetry we found concepts that Seth was to elaborate upon many years later. As Seth told us in 1979, Jane had been a poet all of the time, in its most profound meaning. [...]

Next, Jane quickly went over my recent batch of “Sayre-environment dreams,” as Seth called them. [...] I’d recently asked Jane if Seth would comment.

(Jane has been taking time off from God of Jane and If We Live Again to work on the Introduction for Sue Watkins’s Conversation With Seth. [...]

Tonight Seth did comment—and very perceptively put all of the dreams together. [...]

[...] She laughed, pleased at Seth’s handling of them.

(Before the session I mentioned the question I kept in mind for Seth, concerning what the Sinful Self may have learned since this last series of sessions was started. I said it was essential that we communicate to that personification [named by Seth for convenience’s sake only] that its performance was quite destructive to Jane, and that it must release its hold. [...] All of these points could be subsumed under the one broad question that I wanted Seth to go into when he’d finished with the Prentice-Hall material.)

[...] Make Rob ill, or contaminate his feelings towards Mass Events and Seth’s latest book: [See last PM Seth session, which Rob is typing as I write this.]”

(We’ve begun getting letters mentioning Mass Events—all laudatory—and these have helped, as Seth mentioned they would.

(Jane expected Seth to continue with his Prentice-Hall material tonight, when I asked if she had any questions. [...]

(Then we wondered whether Seth had referred to aspects of Christ’s philosophy that were truly buried — quite unknown today. Almost always I refrain from interrupting the flow of session material with questions, but now I wished I’d asked Seth about that. [...]

1. In the 582nd session in Chapter 20 of Seth Speaks, I quoted Seth during a 1971 ESP class: “All consciousness does, indeed, exist at once, and therefore it did not evolve in those terms … the theory of evolution is as beautiful a tale as the theory of Biblical creation … both might seem to exist within their own systems, and yet, in larger respects they cannot be realities….”

[...] Tonight, Jane said, she’d try letting Seth come through, although she didn’t think she was at her best. [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

(Because we have been so busy, I haven’t written any elaborate notes for Psyche, as I did for the other Seth books. As he promised he’d do early in this work, Seth himself does “set the scene” now and then by mentioning our activities, but obviously — and rightly — he’s more interested in delivering his material. [...]

(We feel that the importance of Seth’s work far surpasses our own comments, of course, yet I do like to remind the reader now and then of Seth-Jane’s spontaneous delivery of these sessions.

(No matter what we may have been doing earlier that day, when the session begins — there’s Seth. [...] Seth’s voice, coming through her in his own unique accent, can be as gentle as a whisper or as ear-splitting as he desires when he wants to make a point. [...]

(The specific reasons were not given, Seth saying he would relay the material to me when next he heard from Van Elver. I have been trying to track down the rest of this data since then, since Seth said to remind him of it.

(There was no response from Seth to this. [...]

(This is a word used by Seth in the session held for Gene Bernard a couple of years ago.)

[...] Jane then began to recite to me some data that “came through” to her, without her appreciating it in Seth’s voice, or speaking for Seth. [...]

(Today Jane received a call from John Pitre of Franklin, Louisiana, concerning John’s ill wife Peg; thus there was a chance Seth would talk about Peg, but this did not develop.

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

[...] However it was a good one, she said; Seth was coming through strong, yet she could remember parts of the material concerning multidimensional personalities. [...]

Then on October 23 Jane’s creative contentions led to her “attend” material—in which she picked up from Seth that her only responsibility in life is to herself: “Attend to what is directly before you.” Seth told her that she bore no onus to save the world. In relief, Jane wrote a short poem to accompany Seth’s message, then wrote further that she “realized that like many I’d become afraid of faith itself.” [...]

(Three months ago, way back on August 13, following the outline she’d written on July 8 for The Magical Approach to Reality: A Seth Book,¹ Jane began work on the first draft for Chapter 1 of that project. [...] Seth reassured her in both sessions. [...]

Early in September—magically appearing as though from another reality, for we’d quite forgotten about the situation—we received through Prentice-Hall six copies of the reprinted Dutch-language edition of Seth Speaks. This time the publisher in the Netherlands, Ankh-Hermes, had not cut Seth Spreekt.⁷

Right after that Sue Watkins called from her home in upstate New York to tell us that she’d just received from Prentice-Hall her first printed copy of Volume 2 of Conversations With Seth. [...] Even though we could hardly be called impartial, we knew that in her long account of much that had taken place in Jane’s ESP classes, Sue had produced superior work both for herself and for us, through her viewpoint offering new dimensions and insights concerning what all three of us—four, counting Seth!—had been, and still are, trying to do. [...]

[...] Right now I don’t feel Seth around, though, but we’ll see … My spine’s got all kinds of feelings in it that I’m not used to, but they’re good ones. How does Seth sit? [...]

[...] But these sessions, dealing with Jane’s improvements, validate the Seth material as it’s come to us over the years. [...] [Others, I’ve often speculated, couldn’t realize the depth of Jane’s challenges.] As we talked, Jane laughed and said she picked up from Seth that “the best books are yet to come.”)

(“Thanks, Seth,” I said mentally to those kind words. [...]

(“Thank you, Seth.”)

[...] Jane said she felt Seth Two behind her, for the first time in a long while. She’d felt that other personality behind Seth while she’d been in trance, but couldn’t get it.... [...] “Well, I’ll get it,” she said, “or try to,” meaning she’d try to bring in Seth Two.

[...] When she finally began speaking her voice was higher than usual—quite a bit higher—but not as high as I remembered earlier Seth Two voices. [...] Seth Two:)

(But then at 12:05 Seth Two returned:) You are vi-tal be-cause we hold you as a part of our experi-ence. [...]

[...] Her recitation as Seth Two had speeded up somewhat after a slow beginning, and had acquired almost a sing-song rhythm. [...]

(“Come on,” Jane said at 9:05, as she waited for Seth to come through. [...] This was the first time I’d heard her express her impatience at Seth, as though everyone was supposed to be ready when we wanted a session.

(Finally at 9:15 Jane “felt Seth around.” [...]

(“Good evening, Seth.”)

I should also open up some further experiences with both Seth II, Cyprus, and Oversoul Seven. [...]

(Seth spoke through Jane five times last week. On Monday and Wednesday evenings he furnished material on this book, plus some personal material for us; discoursed at length Tuesday night in ESP class; spoke briefly Friday afternoon to a visiting editor from Time magazine — subject, Freudian psychology; and on Saturday evening talked informally to a group of our friends about daily life in Italy during the time he had been a minor pope in the fourth century a.d. [Reincarnation-wise, Seth had first mentioned his papal experience in an ESP class session in May, 1971. See Chapter Twenty-two of Seth Speaks.]

[...] We’d been discussing current population problems when Seth came through to tell us that in the fourth century, infanticide — at least to his knowledge — had been quite common. [...]

(Seth added that our records of those early centuries are confused as far as the Church, baptism and children are concerned. [...]

In other words, the whole frame of reality according to Seth includes far more than reincarnation and development within the physical system that we know. [...] Whole blocks of Seth material discuss the potentials and makeup of consciousness as it is manifested in molecules, man, and pyramid energy gestalts. [...] But as Seth says, “Even this overall pyramid gestalt is not static. [...]

She hardly got the words out of her mouth before Seth interrupted her. [...] In the heat of the discussion, Seth and ESP in general had been forgotten. Now Seth’s voice really boomed out. [...]

As mentioned earlier, however, the Seth Material does not ignore deeper questions having to do with the “beginning” of consciousness and of reality. [...] For this reason I am continuing this chapter with excerpts from sessions 426, 427, and 428, where Seth began with a fuller explanation of space, time, and probable realities and then led us, step by step, into a discussion of God.

Simply stated, this is one of the thumbnail passages that explain Seth’s concept of God:

(Jane remembered my talking to Seth—the longest exchange I’d had with him for years. She explained that in trance she was aware of my questions “in the back of her mind,” and of Seth answering them, and that in a way the questions would get in the way of what Seth was trying to say; they could interrupt too deeply; I’d known this from a few infrequent, much earlier, experiences in the sessions, and had often thought that if too persistent the questions could bring her out of trance. [...]

[...] Among them is Jane’s fear of the controversial nature of Seth’s medical material, which led to Prentice-Hall’s installation of the hated disclaimer.

(5. The number of “crash” sessions held will depend on progress made, what help Seth can offer. [...]

(“Like what areas?” I asked Seth. [...]

(The session with Seth began an indeterminate time after the shattering of the table. Previous to it, Jane told me she felt Seth; since strangers to Seth were present, we thought it best that he not come through. [...] Confined to the living room with its gathering, Jane finally let Seth come through.

(There was no doubt that Seth wanted to come through. [...] This left as new witnesses Peg’s brother Dick and his wife Carol, Danny,Curt, Doug and Carl; though Carl and perhaps one or two others had at least heard mention of Seth.

[...] Seth was deadly serious. [...] I personally did not think we were unappreciative of what had taken place this evening, but Seth proceeded to drive the point home rather unmercifully, I thought at the time. [...]

[...] Both involve table tipping, and include one Seth session.

[...] Then I watched the Seth personality begin to recede, to fade. Jane blinked a few times, and Seth was gone. [...]

7. Seth gave two blocks of material in Seth Speaks that are analogous to what he tells us here. [...]

(She made her remarks after I’d read her Seth’s last session [the 740th for February 2] from my notes earlier this evening, I still don’t have it typed. [...]

(Last week we received Dr. Instream’s letter of September 13, in which he wrote that he would like to try straight clairvoyant communication with Seth on Monday and Wednesday nights at 10 PM. [...]

(Dr. Instream would like us to ask Seth why he stopped at York Beach, since he had never been there before. [...]

(In preparation for her next book, which will deal with the Seth material itself, Jane made an exploratory trip to several county records offices in Elmira; she is beginning an effort to track down Frank Watts. [...]

[...] Tonight we decided to ask Seth to answer the letter. Pat enclosed with her letter a list of three questions from a friend, Roger, dealing with mathematical formulae and requesting also that Seth give his mother’s maiden name. A fourth question, from a girlfriend of Pat’s, asked Seth about the Bahai faith. Jane read the four questions over—the formulae were meaningless to her—before the session, but we doubted if Seth would have time to deal with Pat’s letter and the questions in one session.

[...] At 8:55 PM Jane received a flash which she thought to be from Seth: “Pat is insisting on using the gift of life in a certain way.”

[...] Throughout the session Seth spoke to me directly as though I were Pat instead, as he explains later.)
